Techno Bass Sub-Bass Lines Working Together

Dear Phil, other SA instructors (and fellow SA members),br
br
I have been trying to write techno as a hobby now for quite some time now (over 8-9 years). I was listening to a John Digweed mix the other night (Live in Slovenia) and he was playing these rumbly techno tunes for most of the mix. I have been trying to create these basslines which work in conjunction with sub basslines for quite some time but I just can’t get them to sound fat and rumbly and driving without them getting too muddy or “meh” sounding. br
br
My method of attack has been to use sine wave-ish stuff that is filtered down to create that sub-line. Then I will get another sound and filter that down so it’s nice and subby and get a multi-track sub bass groove going. I have tried EQing them (with a hi-pass filter) so that I eliminate the other freq’s that make it muddy. I have also side chained them using compressors and/or LFO Tool to avoid interference with the kick drum, etc.br
br
Again, I usually end up with results that are uninspiring because they are too thin or too muddy. I was wondering if you could help me think of something I have not tried or point me to a tutorial that I can find the answers, etc. ANY help is MUCH appreciated. I have included several examples below with their respective links.br
