http://snd.sc/y18AUB - Check out a preview of my first ever track. Any comments would be gratefully received. Thanks guys.
Nice track…
Drums sound really nice… they could be a bit better balanced tho… id bring all the drums down a bit except for the kick.
your transitions are a bit to frequent or repetitive… try spacing them out more or changing them up with different effects.
you need a bass line. sounds quite empty down there.
The build up ends louder than what kicks in after which loses the momentum and falls a bit flat. Bring stuff down a bit and use Hi-Pass filter to help create more impact when it kicks in.
Stab at the start gets lost… need more volume.
Thanks for the feedback Phil its much appreciated. Considering its my first track on here i was glad to get your feedback. I will have a play around and see what i can come up with, thanks once again. Any more comments appreciated.
Hey buddy,
Like the groove you have with the drums, I agree with Phil the transitions get very repetative and samey, you can even see the pattern in the waveform. Use filters to hi pass and low pass for different sections including on different parts, to help add more ‘movement’.
Again agree with Phil, you need more going on in with your bass, the piano is nice but somehow feels a little detached from the track. I’d perhaps look at reverb settings to try and gel it in more.
Otherwise it’s coming a long nicely!
Rob,
Thanks for listening its appreciated. I’ll give it some more attention.
If you’re stuck for ideas on transitions try doing things like taking out the drums and/or other parts along with adding an effect like reverb or delay for example, then bringing them back in at the next section.
Just vary it up, sometimes it can be as simple as just taking the kick and snare out for 1 or two hits, or even having the kick double hitting (sort of like a 2/2 delay) just before the next transition.
good start for you first track, I won’t cover what’s been said by they guys previously, they’ve said enough… Try removing some of the transitions and let the track build using simple filters and fx as already mentioned… they’re too “expected” after the first few… for your drums you can start to pan the instruments and give more life to them, try using the EQ and experiment with cutting out certain frequencies of your percussion to let the other ones breathe… maybe some processing on them like adding reverb/delay… although the track has a nice groove
nice job man
