So I’ve been wanting to write an email to ableton for a while because they claim there always open for user oppinions. So I thought why not make a thread here as most of the people are decent folk and the majority use ableton! So hopefully everyone will add there 2c and mabey we can get a nice big thread so I can just drop the link to ableton and you never know they may listen So to get the ball rolling here are two suggestions from me. 1. Combine spectrum and EQ8! I wana see the spectrum when I’m EQing and not have to load an EQ and a spectrum all the time and also say spectrum shows me some unwanted low frequencies so I cut them with EQ8 but spectrum still shows that they are there?!? Are they there or are they gone? Who knows! Logic did this in version 6/7 and everyone raved about it, also when u cut or boost a frequency in the logic eq it instantly is shown on the frequency spectrum in the background! 2. Give us the ability to export ALL group tracks as well as just having to do them all individually or exporting a gig worth with the export all tracks function and getting unwanted tracks like your muted sidechain trigger or your aux channels.
They arlready do this on their forum.
yer but noone seems to listen to what those guys say lol
The big one for me would be multi wave form.
If abelton want to compete with trakor they should allow for more then 1 wave form to be viewed at once. If they did that and even went as far as adding time code control, it would be unstoppable!
Can’t see this happening tho coz they have the serato bridge thing coming out. Would be nice tho
Export to MP3
Yes! Completely forgot about tha but exporting directly to mp3 would be awesome
I guess Ill add to it…
Automation curves.
Grid automation? Like how Bryan was using the automation in cubase for the dubstep tut. So I can open and close the filter/whatever in time. If its already there and I’m just uninformed than thanks in advance for pointing me to this feature
Lol the more of your suggestions im reading the more im thinking OH YEAH!!! curves in automation would be awesome i think people under estimate just how different your filtering etc will sound if its curved as apposed to straight lines. Curves are so much smoother and looking around it seems like you can curve in every sequencer just not ableton
To the above poster im not sure what you mean with automation grids? Could you ellaborate?
When Bryan was doing the dubstep tutorial he had a quantize grid in the automation envelopes in Cubase. And he would click his nodes on the grid so that the filter came up in time for that 1/4 note triplet wub wub bass sound. If you’re reading Bryan I’m sure you could explain it correctly lol. I can’t lock my automation nodes to the time grid in Ableton and I can’t switch to triplet grid in the arrangement view.

If i’ve understood you right, you can do all that in Ableton session and arrangement view.
To get the Triplet grid, press command 3.
In the envelope window (if your not sure where that is click on a clip, and at the bottom left of the screen you’ll see 3 circle’s, one with an E in the middle, click that) you can right click on it on that will open a menu with loads of grid options. Then you just make sure that the envelope is controlling the right parameter. You should see some drop down menus in the envelopes box, just select what you want to control.
I think (hope) thats what you meant
Nice thanks Ted. Yes that’s what I was looking for

What you mean like they have with the bridge and serato, where you can control ableton using seratos time code by dropping the ableton session/clip on a deck??

I mean for djing, Just being able to see more then one waveform at a time really, time code control would be a bonus.
Right now ableton show audio clips in stereo, so be cool if you could, instead of having left and right, have channel A and B. So showing two different clips each in mono. Be great for dj’s.
yeah i was just pointing out that time code control is already there.
voice recognition & sure some artificial intel wouldn’t go a miss
Lenners
Oh I got another one… The ‘make me a hit record’ button. Who wouldn’t love one of them lying around

In fact, I thought I was mental because I couldn’t work out how to do them. It’s nice to know that they’re actually not possible in Ablton!
