ya man cant wait for the next videos. we needed that Music theory tutorials really bad. :hehe:
just finished watching, very informative. thanks Jamie now I’m interested in how a bassline should work with the percussion, keeping the elements you just talked about in mind.
out of curiosity did you do any work with groove3? you sound like one of the jamies form over there lol
I have that in mind going forward, gedeon. I’m working on the scales and modes section now, and the bass line is definitely part of that both in the sense of notes and fitting it into the mix. I’m glad folks are mentioning these things since it helps focus on what you want to know from the theory side of it!
I’m not sure what groove3 is, but I’m sure I’m not the Jamie from that! Haha…
Awesome stuff Jamie, looking forward to the next series.
Watched the Rhythm ones today and thought they were brilliant. It’s rare I watch or read anything about production these days that hasn’t been covered before, and while there’s loads of stuff about rhythm out there already these vids genuinely taught me something new. Cannot wait for more.

beginners guide i think they were put in!
I just finished the new rhythm tutorials and I thought it was brilliant. Learnt a lot in just over half an hour. Went away and made some really nice sounding percussion loops. I’m looking forward to seeing what else I come up with in the future thanks to those videos. Good work Jamie
Terrific! I’m so very glad they helped!

Jamie,
Just watched your videos - very very good. Its not even something i’ve considered learning before but i’ve got to say they are great and your instruction is spot on.
Look forward to the ones on scales. i’m also very interested in chords and chord progressions as at the momment i’m trying to figure out the circle of fifths and how this can help with the theory of progression.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks, Mej!
Scales and chords are definitely next, and in the first video on scales I’ll be taking an in-depth look at the circle of fifths. Lots of folks on the boards are interested in this, so I’ll do my best to explain how it can be used as an organizational tool. It’s very easy once one knows what to look for! Glad you liked the videos!

Brilliant news.
I have downloaded the ALP file that goes with these videos but when I open it nothing happens, am I doing something wrong?
Thanks
Alan
Nope! That’s my fault. I failed to put the live pack into a folder of its own before compressing it into a zip file. I’ve contacted Phil about this and he should be posting the working pack soon.
