I’m just burning the appropriate discs etc to try this hackintosh lark myself. If it works I might get hold of one of those Mac Pro cases too because they really are sexy looking beasts.

if you dont have the right components it can be kinda of a waste of time.you may get the os installed, but there might be quite a few things that just dont work correctly or at all.btw, love that pic
I’ll always pay over the odds prices for mac’s than ever switch back to pc, even with my brother building and selling hackintoshes he’s still not shown me anything that would make me want to switch back and save cash. With my experience of mac’s in the last 6 years, apple could stick another couple of hundred bucks on their machines and i’d still pay rather than jump back to windows machines.
I’m no mac fan boy because i really don’t buy into all their other crap, Imo a phone is a phone and things like the apple monitors and such are no different to the competitors but when it comes to a machine i can reply on they have a winning formula (AT THE MOMENT)

-1 respect point for Jon here!
You’re a marketers dream mate!
its just opinion though.
I love apple products. I think their build is amazing. I think their design is HANDS DOWN the best design out on the market.
I think there has to be something said as to why most big name music producers and graphic design companies are using Mac’s over PC’s. PC’s are cheaper for the same hardware. So why do people choose a Mac?
I dare someone to show me better design then Apple’s products too.

operating system, but thats not an issue anymore.i build them, mine are 100 percent stable using legit vanilla installs.as far as the case design it could use some internal improvements but i love the look of them, not enough to pay more than double the money and get half the quality.btw macpro cases can be scooped up anywhere from 100-160 dollars,a couple simple mods and now you have a fully loaded mac pro on steroids with awesome warranties on everything you put into the thing.

you mean prettier or a truly better, more air efficient, noise reducing, plenty of room for expansion design.if prettier than i sure cant,i love understated sleek looks, too many companies get carried away with their case designs, straight up tacky.
Theres a Guy Locally selling (or attempting to sell ) a couple of Mac Pro Cases for €350 each. Utter Joke

damn that guys greedy.i was just on ebay looking to grab another one(i want to completely custom mod one out this time, paint it,etc) and been finding them for 130 dollars no problem.im sure if that guy makes up some apple bs he can probably convince people that the ones hes selling are worth the price difference

Looks wise - impossible - That’s one thing that Mac’s cannot (at present) be beaten at. I just can’t see how other manafacturers can’t get the awesome looks of Apple down. Surely rounding the corners and using aluminium would be a start but there seems to be bugger all out there that can compete with appley goodness.
+1 on that.
Also, this is something that people always use as a negative… ‘you only want it cos it’s pretty’ etc.
And yeah that’s not the best reason, but if I am honest it does make a difference to me. If I walk into my studio (read bedroom) and go ‘**** yeah’ when I look at my kit then I do feel more inspired.
I’ve got a bunch of DJ stuff I got sent through that is on the cheaper end, and it doesn’t fire me up to use it, unlike my Pioneer 900 which is a much more attactive and pro looking bit of kit.
Small but valid point for me.
There are many examples, but one good one is the iPhone. Apple’s design is amazing. Who would have thought of putting the antenna in the case of the phone? No one. I understand there might have been a slight design issue, but most phones do.
The iPad is another one. A straight touch screen in such a thin design. Metal casings. Cmon!
Now, I dig it with the Mac Pro. Its a straight tower. I get it. But MacBook Pro’s look amazing. They are thin as hell. They are light. They are powerful and they have amazing features.
Apple is about innovation. They dont follow other companies. There is a reason that Apple is one of the most admired companies (if not the most) in the world. They make great products. Lastly, there has to be something said for most big producers using a Mac to produce music.
Can someone tell me how many of the top studios in the world implement a PC over a Mac in them?
Should be getting mine this week. Think I’m gonna go balls out and get the 27" iMac i5 quad.
I got a student discount on Ableton from Berklee, so the saving on that can offset some of the computer.
Will post pix once I set that bad boy up!

There are plenty of pics on Apples website!

Ehm, the antenna inside the casing of a phone is ancient? Nokia 3310? It’s nothing new.
I agree with the iPad being quite innovative but they screwed us over with the weak processor and small disk space. No doubt they’ll be updating this in the coming months.
As for their computers, I really don’t get how they’re all that amazing. Their technical specs are overpriced for what they are. All your paying for is the OS and that can now be put on other machines anyway, with the right hardware. Once again, they feed us products that are soon outdated and uncompetitive with the price to hardware, yet we lap it up and praise them as being amazing machines all because of their clever marketing techniques.
WOW a metal case, that is so impressive! Here, take an extra £500 of my money for this great design, well done Apple, you awesome innovators you. They don’t follow other companies? WTF? They are such a bunch of scheming toe rags that utilise the power of marketing to such a great advantage, like releasing new products that are slightly different from the old, making older users upgrade like clockwork. Good luck to those people whose warranty runs out after the year is out and the machine turns faulty. You’re looking at a big FU bill further making you go, “oh, i’ll just upgrade to the new one.”
Man, people buy into advertising and marketing so blindly that they don’t stop to think just for that second.
To summarise, a mac is for a person with more money than sense.

Also how the hell do you define the most “admired” company as you quite rightly put it?

They just tricked you, that’s all.

sorry you feel that way lol but that’s as simple as it gets with me, i could build a hackintosh and save myself money, anyone could, it’s not hard infact its mind numbingly easy and finding out which parts you need is just as easy. there are a shed load of threads and forum pages about hackitoshes, I’m not a stupid man and i know my way around a PC/Mac but its 100 times easier to punch my number into a machine and let visa build mine.
Give me a marketer that is trying to sell me something i didn’t go looking for and i’ll show you a failed man.
