This looks sick!- Xfer NERVE

New drum sequencer by Steve Duda - owner of Xfer (with Deadmau5) and co-creator of FXPansion GURU.

Just caught a review of this by D Ramirez at Steve Duda’s studio.

It’s got hyperdraw velocity hits like iDrum which i love for automatic dynamic variation but has sicker and slicker parameters to anything i’ve seen. You can tap the beats in with your mouse for a start. You can also send individual hits to your sequencer’s fx buses without having to split outputs. You can re-synthesize the hits. You can apply groove based LFO modulation (which I think is a first for drum modules). You can import loops and REX files - grab their grooves etc, and even randomize simultaneously the individual hit sounds on all the pads from within their respective source sample folders! Only initial apparent downside seems to be a shortage of EQ possibilities but not totally sure as i’m downloading the demo at mo. Sorry if this doesn’t make too much sense- check the youtube vids for clarification:

i think this Drum Machine would save you lots of time building a beat . but i havent seen anything that would make me want to buy it . maybe playing around with the demo might change my mind .

It looks wicked, but $199 is a bit steep for what it does.

I’d rather have Battery, or for price use Audio Damages Tattoo for step sequencing.

Looks very cool but i agree with Aapie… 199$ is a bit expensive for what it does. Too bad for me, I really need a drum machine VSTi with good kits… :frowning:

That’s true guys. So instead… there’s a good free little drum player with some solid beats to try out:

DRUMCORE FREE (check the freeware thread)

The sounds in it are more towards hip hop than dance but they’re crisp - with some gnarly 808 sounds and some tight banging afro-latin percussion.

There’s also a fancy looking mini-sampler in this month’s Computer Music Magazine:

Computer Music 152, June issue

• (Time+Space Samples) UVI Soundstation: 1.1GB of professional loops and hits in a powerful sample playback plug-in for PC and Mac.

You can put your own REX files and sounds into it as well as use the pro sound library hits.

Seems a cheaper option really!

some of the sound manipulation tools look extremely useful…
