Traktor S4

Yeah, it’s the next bit of kit on the list…

Has anyone got one? If so are they worth the dollar?

I’ve got one and I like it yes.

I also currently have one of the following lying about:

Vestax Spin

Numark NS6

Numark iDJ Live

Citronic MP-X10

Pioneer DDJ-T1

Numark DJ2Go

And out of all that lot the one I like the most is probably the S4, although the NS6 is surprisingly good and much better built than the S4, but it’s less solid with Traktor out of the box.

First of all you shoud ask you a question what you gonna use it for?!

Are you thinkin about using it at gigs?

Do you like mix 4 deck at the same time?!

Do you use traktor or other software?

I tryied S4 few times… and i didnt like it at all, for me it is way to expensive for this kinda equipment.

Didnt felt that solid and i didnt like a size of it either, quality of buttons was rubbish triggering them was very hard.

One thing was good, It was simply to plug in. You dont have to manualy map buttons to traktor and it has build in soundcard (i think is audio 6)

I rather buy DJ Tech Tools VCI-100 Pro Arcade with a soundcard. but its only me

Yeah if I was gigging then the S4 might not be my choice, the buttons seem ok to me, but not as good as I’d hoped.

As above, depends what you’re looking to do really.

I’d probably use it at the odd party and rave but not in the clubs, mainly at home for having a bit of a mess around and recording some creative mixes

Gonna have a bash over the weekend on one at Lightsounds

dont wanna sound like fanboy of hardware but in my opinion if you buy something like NI machine, apc 40, you can be very creative for less money,

or if you looking for sometings that is more “traditional” buy someting cheeper that have same functionality as S4 and try to expand your hardware from there.

I personally love it and think it’s an amazing piece of kit. However if you don’t own a mac or do not intend on buying one then stay well clear as the latency and sound output is awful on windows.

Yeah +1 on that, the windows drivers are terrible, Mac only or make sure you can try it on your pc before parting with cash.

That’s all good, Mac all the way here. My birthday is coming up so will see what happens!
