So I did a house party last night, long one probs mixing for a good 5 hours, everything was goin great then every now and again it sounded like a really short loop would just trigger although no loops were set and latentcy would shoot up, making it impossible to cue, and the only way to stop it is either drag the latentcy up and down or close the program and reopen, anyone else experienced anything like this, and no I don’t want to switch to serato lol
Have you disabled wifi and uninstalled the driver for the laptop soundcard?
These two thing have helped me the most
Ah no haven’t tried that, it only does it when I play for a long time it’s fine when I just play for an hour cheers for the tip!

If that’s the case then you are one lucky person!
Have downloaded latency checker? You want to speak to “the ant” he’s in the know!
Cheers again for the tip what’s the best way to
Get hold if ‘the ant’ privet message?
I have some seious issues playing with traktor at house parties if there are lights, lasers or strobes plugged in anywhere near the same socket my laptop is plugged into. I get the same effect and the soundcard begins losing power, plug out the lights and it all works fine again.

Hey, this doesn’t sound like the normal latency issues. Normally if something is causing a problem you will get clicks and pops from the start, but it won’t stop working.
When you say a short loop would trigger, I’m not sure I understand - is there something out of time with the track, or is it the track loops? The only thing I can think of for this is maybe on of the effects is on and feeding back.
Also when you say the latency shoots up, is it that there is a time lag with what you are doing, or is it the cpu meter goes high?
What OS are you using? Also you don’t have anything scheduled to run, link automatic updates or virus scan or anything?
Funny you say that because we did have a couple of led ‘parcans’ on the go. Yeah the latency goes right up, and because I use the control vinyl it was near impossible to release the tune on beat. What I mean by the loop thing is like you no when you pit a ridiculously small loop on and it basically sounds like noise, it did sort of sound like feed back but I checked the effects and nothing was on. Was using a mac, 10.4 I think it’s a mates computer cos mine is even more useless, used to use Traktor on a mac a few years a go (older shape) and it worked an absolute dream
Ok, well I have no idea what it is. Maybe it was the lights thing - I just can’t think why that would happen. Usually when you draw too much power from a socket the fuse blows.
Mac laptops don’t suffer from the same latency issues that some PC laptops do, that is one advantage of controlling the hardware and software of a machine.
I think I would get on to NI support, or at least thier forums.
Yeah did notice the latency when is was good was much better than my laptop, have to say the power isnt good in my house, doesnt even have on off switches for the plugs lol.
Anyway thanks for all the suggestions, catch Ya soon.
