Trance tutorial

do we get to use the nice vocal or is that not going to be in the files and resources?

Yeah it will be included for you to play about with but you wont be able to use it fir a comercial release.

i have also recorded some more vocals for a sample pack that you will be able to use freely.

It could just be my ears, but the verse part of the vocals sound slightly out of key… Anyone else notice?

ooo nice some extra vocals

It’s in key, I think that it’s just a bit flat in parts. That’s probably what you’re hearing.

the link for the files is not working, just to let you know. it links to a really strange messed up address

k

sorry working now.

I have a feeling this is going to be the best tutorial ever on SA

Been so long awaited, and it’s looking so exciting and fresh so far.

Cheers Phil, really enjoyed the first part of this tutorial.

Looking forward to part 2

Yep when I saw the trance tut I thought it wouldn’t be for me, I liked a bit of prog and that from a while back when Sasha and Digweed were playing stuff like BT and Paul van dyke like 10 or so years ago but i’m more into techno, tech house minimal now…

BUT

To be fair this tutorial was awesome from the beginning Sonic is getting better and better!

After seeing Alchemy used in this and a few of the other tutorials I brought it yesterday and I gotta say well impressed with that too…!

Got the newsletter and saw Glitch House and said to myself that’s it I’m done!!

Thank God there was more to that newsletter!!!

Not a big fan of vocal trance but this one has my complete attention!!! Nice chords are a must and you certainly have those.

Thanks for not loosing me as a customer Phil, because I really didn’t want to go!!

Can’t wait to see the rest of the peak time trance tuts!!!

p.s.

Glad to see you haven’t forgotten your roots!!!

Wow Phil, you’re great at making tunes. You can create some great sounds and your tutorials fit the genre that you are aiming to teach.

A feature that would I would like to see in your training videos would be statements like:

(hypothetical examples)

ā€œA common feature in trance is that the song finds a tonal ā€œhomeā€ on the first beat of a four or eight bar loop during the chorus, but the tonal ā€œhomeā€ is usually on the third and fourth beats of the versesā€

ā€œThe energy in this song is built by using repetition while slowly automating parameters to create anticipation.ā€

Yeah, so stuff like that. I want to know not just what you are doing, but why you are doing it.

Thanks for the support!

Yeah i agree… Sometimes i forget how important those small insights can be. i need to remind my self that people watching are doing this all for the first time and me just saying do this until it sounds right isnt much help.
