Again thumbs up all round - well delivered and clear instructions throughout.
The fold and template idea is what I will be setting up over the weekend so that is something else I learned watching it.
I do hope the SA gang give you the go ahead to put vid tips up as I think it would complement their own tutorials very well
wickedged (27/05/2010)
Just watched it now, Howie - very impressed. Your instructions are really clear and you’ve obviously spent a lot of time putting the different bits together on your computer so that your delivery runs smoothly. The tip about using the scale templates with the fold option is genius - I’ll definitely be making use of it. Thanks for sharing this with everyone - it is much appreciated.
One thing, when you transpose the looped pattern between the scales, did you have to draw each one in manually, or is there another way of doing it?
Thanks again, Howie! :):):)
Thanks for the kind words…
To answer your question, put your root note before 1.1 in the correct spot and draw in your notes. If you want to change where your notes to, you need to highlight the notes in the clip and move them around.
If you have the notes drawn in and you want to change the root note, unclick fold, and move everything up.
A simple way to highlight the notes that you drew in your progression is to highlight the note velocities. Little trick for ya!

Howie,
Thanks for making this tutorial. The scales and fold template tip is an excellent idea. I’ll be using this technique right away. Thanks again for doing this I took away a lot from it.
sent…and I just didnt want to put it on youtube. Too much of a hassle. It takes me two seconds to shoot off the link to download. On top of that, people can keep it for reference.
just finished the vid, great job howie. really appreciate the effort you put into this and for sharing your knowledge. the video was well done pretty precise the tips you showed is something im sure everyone here can use. keep it coming! more eq tips please
thanks howie !! i just watched your video .is pretty helpful the way you can set up the to play on keys on the track . one of the issues i run alot is when i use for example bass lines in Minor Keys and Lead lines in the major keys .can the root notes be a different keys?
for example : can i make it fit a bass line in A minor and a lead line with C major?
i agree with the earlier posts, good stuff dude. making a template with the fold button is a good method to work in a particular scale. i also felt like you moved at a good pace, went over the techniques in a clear and coherent way. cant wait to see what else you have up your sleeve in the future. thanks bro, really enjoyed that extra tech tip
Great vid Howie. I know all about scales but I know alot of people who need to know about this stuff. Some good tips.
I’m gonna also chime in though, uplifting trance is 99% written in a natural minor scale.(which a person write in another post an two hours before me:()
Thanks once again howie
p.s WHERE IS THE NORTHERN IRELAND VOICE?
