I know a tutorial has only just come out and much appreciated. i know im gonna get a bit of stick for this one lol but hows about some tips on managing samples. when i say managing samples i mean things like where do i store them on my computer, do i have a separate folder with the samples for the track im working on in etc. My computer is the worst at the moment, i am totally not organised when it comes to managing my sounds and vsts etc. i noticed on phils trance drum tutorial that he had good organisation of his presets and samples.
Am i the only one who cant do this lol
Best thing you can do is have it on a portable hard drive
thats where i also keep all my projects
i basically have all the vengeance stuff in one folder and all the rest in a samples folder
it just personal preferance really
I’ll second that Paul - get yourself a portable hard drive and store all your info such as samples, vst and ableton songs.
If your PC goes wrong and you have to re-install windows at least you should still have all your music stuff.
Just organise what suits you. I have a folder for samples and then drop them in there but then break them down into subfolders. It just simple filing really and whatever best suits you.
Thanks guys i defo take on board what you said. i already have a portable hard drive and i definately see your point. Makes a lot of sense.
Nice one Guys
I have a separate internal drive in my PC. Dont have it on a separate drive on my mac but i def should.
Just be carful youve got a back up of all your stuff… i just had a freecom drive die on me the other day… luckily i had it backed up.
