Tutorial vids

Hey guys,

Probably a very easy solution, but how do I download the tutorial videos so I can view offline ?

Thanks very much.

B

you cant. my nets not that great and its a pay as you go so i havent been able to watch a tutorial vid in about 8 months. would cost me too much to keep downloading them. :frowning:

There is no way to download the vids… currently only available online im afraid.

dev guys are working on a download system… will be at least one month away.

We havent decided exactly what way this will work for subscribers yet… obviously we want to avoid folks subscribing for a moth download everything and leave etc.

sooo have you guys any ideas on how what way we could do this?

ahh ye that wouldnt be good phil.

what about setting a date (that only you guys at SA know) and allowing everyone thats a subscriber previous to this date to be allowed to download the vids for free? or setting it that only sunscribers of 6+ months are allowed to download the vids for free?

but then you got the problem of what to do about charging / not charging for the new videos…

does any of that make sense? im in a bit of a daze today for some reason lol

another way would be to keep it secret and only allow certain subscribers that you “know” are trustworthy and wont upload them to youtube. emailing them a link to a download page for personal use only.

maybe you get download credits (points)… enough for pay quarterly to get a course download a quarter… maybe going up the longer your a member… so first quarter 1 course second quarter 2 courses and so on.

would also be a good incentive to stay around for a while.

yearly subscribers could get more points up front and something every month.

Good idea Phil . . .

Incentive for people to hang around sounds like a winner to me . . .

Im not gonna lie Phil the only reason i found out about this site and joined was because i searched free music production courses and one of the sonic academy courses showed up i watched them. I loved it. Finally, i joined. The torrent said try before you buy…i guess it worked out fine and Sonic academy gained a customer! I would like to apologize for downloading that course but im glad i did.

Let me warn you though the video player for your videos must be made better because there are Internet Plug-ins which allow you to download the video from your browser and that is how i believe people who make monthly accounts obtain your videos because i have seen many on the internet…You have a good idea on how to let subscribers obtain download-able content…Me and my friend are web-designers who work in e-commerce (were only 18 and making bank :D) when i discuss the issue with him i will come back and give you loads of info on how to make it so these videos don’t get spread out by a “pirate”

sounds good. i would like to download ALL the videos though for personal use. i do this with the future music dvds, when i find a producer tutorial on the DVD i like i save it to my hard drive so i can go back to it easily in weeks/months time instead of searching for the actual DVD.

Yeah we are aware of the issue… we changed the player on the new site to make it more secure but no mater how good it is it only takes one person to screen grab or something.

We decided a while ago to focus on making the service better for the folks who do pay hence reinstating downloads. and we will continue to focus on making the community more interactive and better.

I guess there are some folks who just wouldnt have paid anyway.

Its a massive problem for a lot of digital content creators.

Oh yeah i forgot about screen capture ****!

I guess you just gotta trust your subscribers, i will always be a loyal subscriber!

God dammit effin “pirates”

there are technicals issues for these downloads.

Sites like cardrunners (poker coaching) are using 2 kinds of way to download their vidz.

The first one is when you’re not a subsciber you can download videos one by one by paying them (you would be able to see them when you want and as long as you want).

The second one is when you’re a subscriber, you can download all the videos you want but you would be able to watch them only the time of your subscribtion.

Both of the methods are requirering id and pass when you launch your downloaded video, so without id/pass or after subcribtion ended you won’t be able to watch it.

There are plenty of them out there and I could have got my hands on them but I didnt want to wait after seeing some of the demo vids and the stuff on youtube so just joined… glad I did and didnt go down the torrent route as there is much more to the site this way and a whole communtiy to interact with which is great
