I have a mid 2010 iMac (2.8GHz)
It had the standard 2 x 2GB (4GB) 1333 MHz DDR3 stock ram, and i have just upgraded to 4 x 4GB (16GB) 1333 MHz DDR3 third party ram.
Before i changed it over i opened an Ableton project that i knew was CPU hungry and it was hovering around the 45% mark, yet after the upgrade to 16GB it’s now hovering around the 60% mark???
Please tell me i’m doing something wrong otherwise i’m going to be miffed if it’s dodgy ram!
Seems odd, I wouldn’t expect adding memory to make any difference to the Ableton CPU meter at all.
Are you using the 32bit Ableton? If so adding memory won’t make much difference to Ableton anyway.
Are you using the 64bit Beta? If so the extra memory should help Ableton (although not the CPU), you should probably let the beta team know what is happening.
