I read an interesting article about Vengeance samples. Click the link below and lets hear your thoughts.

I'm not entirely sure about that post. Maby they did ripp off some loops...
But to say that you can't use it in your productions is bogus...
I got this right from the vengeance FAQ:
Am I allowed to use the sounds in my productions?
Of course, yes! Thats for what the sounds are for. With the legal purchase of a soundset/sampleCD, you obtain the right to use them as you want. There are no restrictions for soundsets, but when commercially releasing a track, using a melody loop / vocal as main hook, please inform your label that you have used a sample / compostition, which can be accessed and used by every other legit buyer of the samplepack. You have no exclusive right for any of the samples. Even not, after releasing a track. Due to the heavy worldwide use of the Vengeance samplepacks, there are tracks using exactly the same melody loop or vocal. To avoid conflicts with another producer, and "who came first discussions", our advice is to modify the melodies or vocals (re-arrange them, fx-them etc...) so they become your unique melody. Usually drums are no problem, but melody or vocal stuff which have a high recognition value.
Vengeance is not responsible for any conflicts of this kind.
On a side note… this is usually why I don’t use loops or melodies from vengeance.
stick to just using their single hits for drum stuff.
I like to use synths to make my own so that you are not just using what somebody else did already.
if I use any loops… this is also what guru is for.
everyones at it in this game
meh I only use their single hits so not an issue for me.
Besides, your license is with them so if there’s a legal issue surely it’s Vengeance that’ll bear the brunt and not you?
Its very hard to spot loops etc you made in the hundreds of samples that vengeanc released. Its funny their is a video of kan Carey where he says hes spotted a few of his loops in vengeance packs and he just laughs about it. I guess the only person they have to be carefull with is deadmau5
i agree, i just thought it was an interesting read. I use loops like crazy, but i usually chop them up and use the individual sounds within a loop. Its great to use loops as inspiration, but i just thought of how shady it would be if they were selling their loops and ripping them off without clearance at the same time.
What they were saying that I think was misunderstood is that Vengeance says that if they listen to a song, they can tell if any of their samples were used because they have a sonic signature in all their sounds. If you use their samples and you didnt pay for them (ie torrent sites, etc.) they will come after you. This is ironic if they stole the sounds themselves.

I think this is just a scare tactic jinned up by their legal advisor (probably not a lawyer at all). They know full well that they can’t do anything to stop piracy, so they make a veiled threat in hopes that it scares off those who aren’t sure.
I’d love to see them go on a witch hunt though. That would be a load of laughs.
i agree, however i was talking to Jon about this a while back. its somehow possible, although i doubt they would really do anything about it.
Yeah I’m sure they can tag them but I can’t imagine them getting a successful prosecution. If the only way to identify the source of a file is through a specialized tagging method which the end user isn’t able to verify, I’m pretty sure you could plead ignorance.
Either way, they generally sound great, regardless of where they are from
Very interesting read.
To me its all just how you use them … take a loop … who cares if someone has used it … do something different with it … make it your own etc
sometimes i use loops but just cut out one tiny sound from that loop etc or ill use the whole thing but chop it up and all that … its just fun
i don’t think we should get bogged down with stuff like that … music is just to be enjoyed
didn’t they state that some loops are taken from other productions in CM mag, also all original samples are made with software (NOT HARDWARE) all kicks are pre compressed so just drag and drop.
and 90% of the loop based cd’s out there have loops taken from other CDS or productions, the difference is that there are Grey Areas in the law that can come into play and be used to the advantage of companies like these.
I dont know if everyone knows this, but a little history lesson for ya. House music was created off of samples, similar to how hip hop is made off of samples. Some might argue that using samples makes it original.

oh you mean when i was talking about invisible frequencies and being able to sign you name through your productions with out it effecting the sound but you can physically see it using a special bit of software ?

the dance music manual would argue that you can’t make house music with out using samples or a sampler (i just doesn’t sound the same)
for those of you on mac download this Download Sonogram for Mac | MacUpdate
and the loop i just loaded and drag the loop into the software.
