Was the "how to make techno" video, what you class as techno 2day

IMHO,the how to make techno video, didnt really cover the sounds that id class as techno 2day…does any1 else agree…?

well depends of what your definition is of techno . if you call techno what you listen in beatport top 10 . u might just dont understand the fundamentals of techno . let me explain u :P.

SA made that Video based on a basic Techno Structure . now if you carefully see the video again try to notate how many layers of Percussion the track have. also pay attention that there is not too many melodic elements involved.

all Techno have the same basic Elements . now u can use that knowledge and apply to ur tracks and study other people Techno Structure .

i was pretty happy with the tutorial of techno sincerely and i dont see what u were not happy with .

Hey mate

Parts yeah and part of combined ‘classic techno’ as in the what techno is actually suppose to be, i think its mentioned in the video that hes tried to come up with a balance between what beatport refers to as techno and what is actually techno.

Its bit of both imho to me

Basically guy above just typed in that same time lol

in no offence to your replys boys,i think yous have stated the obvious…mayb i should have explained better… but i thot with referring to “covering the sounds” it would be obvious that i wasnt talkn about “classic techno sound”…prob to wide & varied genre to start posts on…as for beatport top ten, id recommend avoiding as the words “carbon copy” comes to mind…

Aww no probs mate…

i think that its almost impossible to cover techno in a tutorial because basically speaking anything that doesn’t fall into the usual house, trance, d&b, hip-hop… (you get the idea) is usually by many labeled under techno

Aren’t these vids about technique?

I think the tutorial caught the soul of techno quite well

Agree with the Soul capture thing…

But - It did sound a little dated though… but I suppose it takes your own personal freshness, funny edits & general production wizzardry to make it “now”.

Techno is such a broad genre, it would be too hard to pinpoint the exact receipe, but the tut certainly lets you know how to make the Stock.

Should definitely be followed up with Techno Artist / Sub Genre specific Tuts so that it can be built upon…
