Watch out of the evil promoters!

i wanted to share my experience about bad promoters that try to make money with you with out paying you. i have been booked to a party for an even that might be to at least 4000. people. the promoter guy never send me a contract orr any verbal agreement. instead he decided to make Flyers and set me up for a Dj schedule with other DJs. when i confronted this guy about it, he pretty much told me that he will no pay me because they had a short budget and he would book me because for exposure. i was very upset and told him that i was not going to Dj without a contract and he better take me out of the Dj rooster if he dont want me to take legal action

i am not a famous Dj that wants to be paid loads of money. but at least i want respect as an artist . i have been Djing for many years and every year i have to deal with promoters like this one. so for everyone who is new to Djing in Clubs out there i would suggest to always get clear about the pay. if you want to Dj for free that is fine as well , because i did that long time for fun ( when i started). but dont forget that you need to respect yourself and dont let anyone try to take advantage of you.

This happens all the time unfortunately, but i would of thought if this so called promoter is getting in 4000 people, then surely he’d have the budget to count your cut of the share? Must be loads or some top dj’s playing at this gig for them not to be able to pay you.

By the way, loving your tracks dude!

thanks man  . yeahh he is bringing commercial acts of Hip Hop and pop bands wich i think he paid lots of money for it . this is the first and last time i work with him .

if he printed your name on the flyers with out making a deal then you have the upperhand in negotiating. If you dont play he might not be able to fill the spot or people will get upset when they come to see you play and your not there. Also if he pushes you around tell him if he doesnt make new flyers without your name on them you will sue for false advertising as you never agreed to play in the first place.
