Weird!

Ok this is really odd, i’m creating a 1 minute rock piece for my friend for his new tv show and i was trying to use a Sylenth pre-set for one of the parts. However, when i click away from the channel, then return to it, the pre-set changes to a diff pre-set, it’s always the same pre-set it changes back too, but i have no idea why it keeps doing this, i’ve never ever seen this happen before.

Anyone got any ideas? It’s actually p*ssing me off now lol

Just had to extract it as audio to stop it changing, but would like to know what’s causing it to keep changing at it’s own accord.

It’s doing it with Alpha CM too so it can’t be a Sylenth issue, gotta be Ableton changing the pre-set, but i don’t know why it’s decided to start doing this all of a sudden?!

What version of live you got…?

restart your computer

Tried that, still doing it.

Make sure there is no CC midi control information which can be causing the patch change.

Check that your midi controller is not sending any unnecessary midi info besides (note, velocity, etc)

I don’t have my midi keyboard switched on.

It’s even doing it with my Z3ta+

It changes as soon as i press play, so i’ll change the pre-set back to what it was supposed to be, press stop, then when I press play again it changes itself to the wrong pre-set.

Ok it doesn’t seem to be doing it in any of my other projects, only this one.

go into the clip in ableton > select the E > click on the pull down folders of the envelopes section and delete any information that may be in the data entry section, this usually refers to parameters within the synth, this selects the pre-set and will cause the synth to jump back to the original settings every time the loop is restarted or reselected.

You most probably have some midi automation on by accident that is changing it back.

I’d go through all your midi channel options as said above. Hope you sort it. Sounds like a fun project.

Cool thanks mate, there has been some information within, i was using a midi so it may be why it had all that in there.

However, i’ve deleted all information and it still keeps changing it, i’ve looked in my envelope and under MIDI Ctrl it keeps re-adding information within 91 - (Controller)

I will delete it, but it just returns after i press play again!?

My midi controller is switched off.

did you create the melody yourself or did you download it off a site? I had the same problem as you when i downloaded midi notes from the web

Downloaded midi clip, I don’t ever use them normally but my friend wanted a 1 minute re-creation of the Survivor - Eye of the Tiger tune, but obviously changed for copywrite reasons, thought i’d start with the midi of it as a template, but it’s caused more issues than helped really. Starting to think i should have just played it in myself.

At the moment i’m having to create a large loop, click record in a new audio, then quickly go into the midi channel and change the synth to the preset i want before it starts playing.

It’s very frustrating, i did delete all the envelope automation but it just re-adds everytime i click play again.

F*ck it, put me off internet midi for life haha.

Double click and go into the piano roll, on the left bottom you should see the stats and options and whatnot for the midi clip. there, under the notes category, you should see three options; bank, sub-bank, and program. if any of those are set to “1”, then there’s your problem. set all of them to “None”.
