i feel like such a noob :frowning:

Well if you want to buy a few books, these helped me

Ableton Live 8 Power! by Jon Margulies

Music Theory for Computer Musicians by Michael Hewitt

Composition for Computer Musicians by Michael Hewitt

But that it probably about £50 worth of books.

I guess the other guys on here might have links to some sites that’ll give you similar info or different ideas for other books.

You can pretty much use Google to find out what the Jargon means, will give you the full descriptive. However there are various books about the place too as suggested above, for the cheaper option try looking in your local library for the above titles.

Google is your friend really though, try this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synthesizer

Well, I think there are two books to get.

The Dance Music Manual by Rick Snoman and Secrets of House Music by Sample Magic.

Both books are amazing. Other then that dude, the only way to really get up on your skillz is to develop them hands on. Keep fiddlin around and keep watching the videos. If you have any specific questions, please ask and myself, egg, and Jon will be happy to help out as well as other members and staff if they ever get around to it. If I cant answer, the others can. We are all knowledgeable and want to help out.

Best of luck bro!

if you watch carefully the videos they exlplain what oscillators lfos and etc. try to watch the video again and if they dont explain you . well pause the video . research and keep on working . if you dont understand redoit till you understand . so dont worry you just need to have patience and i am sure that you are in the right path when you signed up with SA. just keep working and researching everyday

well thats my advice

Ill see if we could put a map together of the videos to show what info is where… there are defo vids where stuff is explained at a basic level and stuff from more advanced.

for basic synth stuff the tech house video explains basic synthesis well
