What do I send when a label ask me to send remix parts?

Hey, wonder if someone can help

A label has asked me to send remix parts, now I know I need to extract the stems, I know I dont need to send them everything (all the stems) so I’m just wondering what exactly I need to send?

Cheers

Really it’s up to you what you send, but you’ll want to send the main elements that make up the track, so for example maybe a stab part, along with the riff, and obviously any vocal/s you had (i know you didn’t have any for this particular track, i’m just saying). Although generally I wouldn’t bother with the bass but it has been done before, so again that’s up to you.

It’s worth noting that although you want to keep your stems dry (without effects), if one / some of the plug in’s helps make up the ‘sound’ of your stem, then you may want to keep that on, but try not to have anything effecting the sound, ie: filter sweeps, delays, reverbs, etc.

You need to leave your stem as ‘dry’ as you can so that it gives the remixer more to work with.

Also remember stems need to be .wav (obvious).

tbh I always like MIDI parts too when doing a remix, saves time trying to replicate riffs, leads etc.

Totally agree! It’s so so rare ever getting midi in remix packs.

Yeah defo, I’ve never just got them, had to ask each time, so useful though, don’t know why it’s not standard.

Thanks for the adivce guys
