But I would have thought if you ate locally sourced butcher cuts you would be out of the woods?

this is how to go even with ya bangers he will have made them with much better quality meats and ingredients.
Buying high quality from tesco or were ever doesn’t mean you’re getting less crap.
the saying should be “this isn’t just any crap!!! this is M&S crap”
taste trhe differents bangers and meats and cook almost every night.
After seeing that I’ll never eat that again!
if the meat comes from a super market there is a good chance its had something added to make shelf life longer and to keep it nice and pink.
taste the difference are basically the best quality you’ll buy in the super market but yes they are still processed in a factory, they are better because they have higher % of meat.
I tend not to buy any meat from supermarkets - or veg come to think about it - luckily I have a local butchers nearby which says that they only stock local meat and they make their own sausages - problem is its so expensive, I eat quite a lot off fish too
Sometimes it’s actually cheaper from local butchers, plus you’ll find that you get bigger portions.
btw… i love how we’ve gone from ‘what do you do’ to a discussion on quality (or lack off for better words) meats! haha

If you work in a factory packing bits of fudge, do you have on your job title ‘Fudge Packer’?
Or do you think people have something ridiculas like ‘Packing Technician’ or something like that? haha
The Main Street in Dublin is called O’Connell Street.
If a Woman has a large XXXXX - You’d say that it was like throwing Sausages up O’Connell Street

Or in your case, a chipolata…
Is there a similar expression in Brighton?

No!!! i only feed it to other’s
seriously though i try to just buy fresh whole chicken, beef or butcher’s mince but i find that it’s almost impossible for me to go more than a week or so with out having consumed something that’s processed.

Now come on roben tell the good people the truth about how you know that
I loved my last local butcher. All the people working there had bow ties and recognised you when you walked in. The meat was a million times better than the supermarket. Plus they did marinaded stuff, spiced stuff etc. It was the same price as the supermarket… why would anyone bother with the Tesco stuff when you have that?
Lazyness mainly I guess.
I have a fairly decent local butcher, but it’s on the busy high street which is too far to walk and a nightmare to park. I’d only be going there for that as all the other shops are sh!te, so sadly I rarely do.

Laziness is the main reason for me, it’s the fact that everything is in one place with super markets.
i live in a town that has a fishing community so fresh fish is quite cheap and being in norfolk we are not short of farms to buy fresh products at a reasonably price but i very rarely bother.
I think we should start to support our local butchers, backers and farm shops and the price will drive down, to be fair though the extra few pence is well worth it for the jump in quality.
I’ve also noticed that i throw away a lot less when i buy from farm shops and butchers, mainly because its fresh i guess and hasn’t been sat in a store room for the past 2 weeks, have you ever noticed that spuds from tesco go squishy after a week and fresh ones can be left in storage for weeks or even months sometimes.
I live in a small welsh town in the middle of nowhere. But we have two good butchers here. Only buy meat from them. It’s a bit off putting sometimes as some of it has a name. …
“Smiffy” 2nd place Royal Welsh Agricultural Show, Bullocks under 2 years
that kind of thing. Still, you know it’s fresh and only what it says it is… Smiffy that is
