What do you do?
bangthedj (20/10/2010)
I was thinking the same.

But I would have thought if you ate locally sourced butcher cuts you would be out of the woods?
this is how to go  even with ya bangers he will have made them with much better quality meats and ingredients.

Buying high quality from tesco or were ever doesn’t mean you’re getting less crap.

the saying should be “this isn’t just any crap!!! this is M&S crap”
gofunk (20/10/2010)

jon_fisher (19/10/2010)
I take perfectly good pieces of pork, chicken, Turkey, Beef put them into a Big machine (BOWL CHOPPER) turn them into something that resembles yogurt add a **** load of salt, Brine, Fat, and all kinda crap. I then pass it onto the next guy who makes all kinds of shapes and sizes out of it, Cooks it and sell’s it to you guys as “Fresh meat product’s” (even if some of the products are bad before we use them) and some have been frozen for more than 5 years and passed there BBFD.

OH and if you eat there’s a good chance you’ve eaten something i’ve made (no matter where you live in the world) unless you are a vegetarian.

ALSO IF YOU THINK YOU DON’T EAT PROCESSED MEAT !!! YOU ARE VERY WRONG !!!
surly not if u cook everything from freash and only use free range and top quality stuff?? I make a point of this after seeing all the **** on TV!
sure but i don’t know many people that do this 100%.

M&S are actually the worst.

Total case of buying into an aspirational life style. No-one stops to think that they’re eating ready meals - just cos its in a sexy box with a fashion shoot style photo.

Chickens on the other hand are a different story. I always look at the packs to make sure its Irish - which is where I am from. Something you need to watch out for on all food these days is where its actually coming from. Tesco’s are utter cnuts for this.

:D
Yeah that’s another thing, we’ve had chicken from Brazil and because its killed and processed in the uk it goes out as “fresh British farmed chicken”

most of our meats are sold as “fresh” and apart from the stuff that is frozen for years most of the other stuff goes out of the door before 28 days after kill date.
jon_fisher (20/10/2010)
well one for example is that some people will pay over the odds for ham on the bone when i’ve personally worked on jobs were we have processed the meat and placed the bone in the center before cooking and selling as “ham on the bone”
Quality.

Love the effort they have gone to with that.

yes, not sure now as i’ve been told the mix has changed, however when i first started some of the chicken products never contained any chicken, simply chicken skin, salt and mixed spices.

“protein” on the packet of pork is ground pig skin for anyone that doesn’t know.

oh and if my boss is reading this then i’ll collect my P45 in the morning

There is a reason why we are not let to have our phones at work, a few years ago someone took a photo and sent it to a news paper. the lad lost his job and was sued for damages to the company.

if the meat comes from a super market there is a good chance its had something added to make shelf life longer and to keep it nice and pink.

taste the difference are basically the best quality you’ll buy in the super market but yes they are still processed in a factory, they are better because they have higher % of meat.

I tend not to buy any meat from supermarkets - or veg come to think about it - luckily I have a local butchers nearby which says that they only stock local meat and they make their own sausages - problem is its so expensive, I eat quite a lot off fish too

Sometimes it’s actually cheaper from local butchers, plus you’ll find that you get bigger portions.

btw… i love how we’ve gone from ‘what do you do’ to a discussion on quality (or lack off for better words) meats! haha
