I’ve downgraded recently so its not really much to brag about hehe. I’m Currently running:
Traktor Pro
Vestax VCI-100
Pioneer MDR-V700
M-audio Firewire Soundcard
Mac Mini
I still have one set of turntables that i just can’t bring myself to get rid of, the only bit of gear i’ve ever had any attachment too :crying:

I hear ya bro, still got my 1210 mk2 gathering dust! tempted to start using traktor stracth to put them to use but havent bothered yet… been using traktor since 2006 or 7 so doubt it will happen now!
Anyway I have:
Traktor pro
DJM 400
x2 1210 mk2
Traktor X1 controller
NI Audio Kontrol 1
& Laptop
Might get some CDJ’s at some point but dont really think I need them or will even use them much now I have the X1… I’ll wait till I’m rich! lol
I know the feeling Jon!
I have
Traktor Scratch Pro
MBP
Audio 8 DJ
DJM 600
Kontrol X1
Novation Dicer
CDJ 800
But I’m thinking of getting rid of…all of it and getting Kontrol S4 once is out.
Seems like a very neat solution.
Lol oldskool here , Two pioneer cdj1000s mk3 and a pioneer djm800
i have
laptop
behringer bcd300 mixer/soundcard
novation launchpad
ableton live 8
im noticing a strong traktor vibe in this thread
i tried it before but prefer live tbh…but there must be somethin going for it its so popular
what are your reasons for preference of traktor, other than vinyl control with trak scratch ?
for me it’s the fact that it’s more like a DJ setup, more spontaneous too, plus I’ve been playing around with it from around 2000.

I would say the fact its a DJ set up, I havent used live for mixing but from what I can see you can not output channels into a DJ mixer and a lot more prep is required.
I find traktor to be very hands on and more “on the spot” and I dont even have to touch my laptop during a set with the x1. Its defo much of a set up for DJ’s who are used to DJing records or CD’s.
I also prefer the look, feel and the way you “warp” tunes, but I wouldnt really call it warping as you are still required to match the beat to some extent
was looking to add to my setup, but noticed that they are not doing ttx1’s that are not usb, which is a pain because i like the mixer and wouldn’t play on a usb one. anyhow to get thsi kam fixed.
I’m thinking of getting Scratch Duo and an X1 for djing. I don’t wanna cary much stuff so I think this could be a good option. The only thing that worries me a little is setting up Scratch in a booth. Guessing a few of you guys have done this before, is it easy to do quickly in a club? Would hate to put a mix cd on while I stand there messing round with cables, seen that a few times and it doesn’t look good.

This is the other thing I’m thinking of. But not sure how big it is. Looks huge, would this fit in a small booth?

it’s easy mate, find the mixer…plug the outputs…find the cables from cdjs plug them in to the soundcard…done if the mixer is only 2 channel than just do one channel at the time

ok fair enough it does take a bit of prep
but tracks could be warped on the spot easy enough
i like havin a set more or less prepared – i just put a lot of tunes in there so i can change it if its not workin
once i have it set up at home beforehand with all the tracks in the set then just use the launchpad to play them
i know the club im playin at - i know roughly what time im on - generally yer gonna know whats gonna go down well and what isnt.
with the launchpad i couldd have 8 audio tracks across and each with umpteen tracks down the ways so if i load a pile of tracks in then i can access any with the launchpad with no touching the laptop
as i go thru all my tracks nearly all i would play are warped anyway - and just do new tracks when i get them
I’m not sure what to make of the S4, dont think I’ll go for it, I dont like the idea of being removed from a clubs standard set up - at the moment I love the fact that traktor with the x1 intergrates very well it a standard set up where as with S4 we wont even be able to use the clubs mixer which causes a few problems - space being one of them.
Just seems a bit to far removed from the enviroment for my liking but I guess that why there is a choice between the X1, external sound card with decks and the S4 when is comes out

Good to know its a simple set up! More then likely gonna go with Duo and an X1. Seem’s well priced and perfect for clubs.

Yeah I’d agree with that.
But you gotta admit that loop recorder and the loop decks look pretty amazing!
2 x CDJ 2000
2 x CDJ 800 mk2
1 x DJM 600
1 x Senheisser HD25 Headphones or the Sony V700s
Headphones
Laptop
Definitely and interesting trend for Traktor here. Usually you find that Serato is the DJs choice, and Traktor for the ‘controllerists’.
I always found that weird as Traktor seemed to have more functionality. Also I never got the whole laptop + DVS thing either. CDJs emulate Vinyl control pretty well and is Burning CDs really that hard?
Better than adding in a Laptop to the equation, thats how it seems to me.
Am intrigued by using the X1 though after dabbling with controllers, but currently I have:
1 x CDJ900
1 x Numark iDJ2 (mainly used as a mixer)
and a Numark TT200
Thats my main set up, but I also have a Pacemaker, a Dj-tech uSolo Mk2 and also their Kontrol One controller, Deckadance, and a CDJ850 (that’s a loaner from Pioneer though).
