What the hell is a mix down?

what is one?

is it when you think you’ve finished your tune and you adjust the levels so everything sits nice??

sure is, most people tend to mixdown as they go. some pro’s prefer to reset all the faders to zero after arranging and start the mixdown from there.

basically speaking though once everything is flowing nicely and sitting perfectly (or as near to) in the mix you’ve completed your mix down.

once the mixdown is complete bounce to audio and play the track on as many systems as can. take notes about how things sit in the mix, go back to the mix and adjust (if needed) until you have a mix that sounds as good as you can get it on all the systems.

bounce the final mix to a stereo audio file and send it for mastering job done

cheers jon!
