I seen all the videos of SA and i am happy that helped me so much to get my productions ideas flowing since day 1.
now there are many people like me that new Tutorials in HTSL seems to be useless . one of the reason because we have so many videos that we can use it like a guide to create our tracks.
i would like to learn more about composing Melodic Dance tracks. i think Indie Dance Music are great to take as an example , like LIFELIKE, PHONAT ,ETC. more like 128 BPM tracks
i think the New Music Theory would go hand to hand with this type of Music. IMO
Yeah, I’m exactly the same to be honest, the recent tutorials haven’t been to my taste at all.
I think the tech tips concept should be expanded on to focus on techniques. For examply I’d really like a massive in depth course on mastering and using various popular plugins like the UAD ones. Most people can get a nice loop together in Ableton but getting it to come to life is harder. There’s loads of 10 min videos on YouTube that are really usefull, however if SA made there own ones it would really add to the site for everyone. Plus it shouldn’t take that long as I’m sure Phil would be able to do them in pretty much one take as he obviously knows what he’s doing, plus he wouldn’t have to worry about creating a good song, just focus on the actual techniques.
Another one I would like would be one showing different techniques for getting variation in the drums to keep a track moving along, it’s often talked about but it’s quite hard for a newbie to understand without being shown. Again I reckon this would be pretty simple.
Another idea would be to not actaully focus on maiking a track in the videos and again focus on techniques. For examply if SA picked a sound they were going for, there will obviously be loads of different sub-genres so instead of focussing on one, show how to make a basic drum track then show how to take it in loads of different directions, how to go in a more melodic direction, harder, etc. Just using different synth techniques or whatever. From my perspective, I really like deep house and am looking forward to the tut on it, however it will only cover one style of deep house as it will focus on making a track when in reality there’s endless sub-genres and loads of different directions a track could be taken.
I suppose alot of it comes down to how busy they are and how much time they have to do these things. If they are working non-stop with only a few members of staff then it’s gonna be hard to get everything done.
Only thoughts, not trying to come across like I’m bashing SA, which I’m not.
No offense, they have just released like 20+ videos from one of the best producers in the world pretty much showing you exactly how to produce a track step by step. If you cant learn anything from that, theres something wrong with you…

did i miss something Jan ? i cant see 20 top producers videos on the SA website .
i just see a Trance tutorials and a Dutch House tutorial .
The trance tutorial was done by Chris Agnelli. He is one of the best trance producers in the world, it sounds like their just not touching styles you like in particular…
Also if you dont believe Chris Agnelli is one of the best producers in the world there is something seriously wrong with you

I just don’t like Trance
I thought there were musings of a deep house tutorial, done by someone who’s more involved in the genre? I’m not sure if that was just a rumour or if in fact that is the case.
If so I would be quite interested in that.
Seriously tho if you like Trance or not, watching Chris Agnelli work is like watching Noah build the Ark.
Its not so much about how good or bad you find his end product or the style it is, but just watching what he does and how he does it should teach everyone a ton. I guess they are a bit more fan when your a big Agnelli and Nelson fan and you start reckognising sounds and things you have heard in a bunch of tracks.
Thnx a lot SA and i hate to say it Phil but your trance tutorial has FINALLY been beat
i do think the HSTL tuts help a lot. especially with sound design for the genre and more
importantly the arrangement, including fills and drops.
however, i would like to see some more advanced tech tips on stuff like multiband
compression etc
