I know these types of questions are done to death on every forum but I’m at work and don’t have time to go searching for answers.
I’m using the Alesis M1 Mk2 but am goin to be selling them to a friend which means I can upgrade. Are there any monitors in the 500pound price range that are better than the Alesis?
second that motion on the krk r6, my friend has a pair and they are bangin, really clear and crisp,
although i do think if you have £500 to throw at the problem u might be able to affford a pair of krk r8’d just a bit bigger and nicer but i suppose it depends on ur setuo and the size of the room etc, but from what ive seen/looked uo the krk monitors are definitely the way forward!
“krk” is all i hear lol …FOSTEX pm isthe way forward the most solid monitors ive heard full stop. go try them out if you dont beleive me but ive had my pm’s for 1/12 yrs and they translate to dancefloor from how it sounds at home/studio check it out …
I think the KRK’s are always mentioned because they are very inexpensive and sound great. I have heard monitors that cost triple their price that dont sound that good.
Thanks lads - I researched monitors about a year ago but the money never materialized for them at the time. I think I had narrowed it down to the KRKs, Adams (A7 i think) and Dynaudio BM6 (or something - can’t quite remember the model details).
The thing with monitors is you don’t want them to sound great - you want them to have a flat response over the spectrum so your getting an accurate reflection of your track. Those Yamaha NS10s that existed in every studio back in the day didn’t sound ‘great’ but if your mix sounded good on them it would sound good anywhere!
I’m happy enough with the Alesis M1 Mk 2, but a mate is starting off in production and I thought I’d pass them on and try a new set.
Seems people are liking the KRKs and the price seems a bargain.
