Yes , unfortunately is who you know . What pisses me off about it is people who never produced or released music , get to have a full booking schedule.
I definetly would suggest to get to meet this people, and learn how they get their bookings.
Usually most of them been doing events for years or sucked ****, of important promoters.
So yeahh u probably need to go out, get in contact thru facebook with this promoters and suck **** lol. Sad but thrue

Yah i mean… its def all about who you know. Making friends is KEY!
Although, there is no way you can make it to superstardom without skillz. You can most definitely be a DJ and get booked all over the place. Most of those guys are resident DJs at big clubs or for big promotions companies so they wind up being at the center of attention and meeting lots of people… which gives them more opportunities for suckiN the tent pole for gigs.
I was a promoter for 5 years, which is how I know this. I’ve had my fair share of DJs walking up to me looking for some meat in their mouth. LOL. and its also the reason why I think of djs as being worthless. i’ll throw a dime a dozen in there to clarify my meaning a bit more.
I mean, if you just want DJ sets… asking all the JO Djs that are in your scene for a DJ mix is an easy thing. They are all too willing to provide you with a mix if you ask… Considering they don’t make music most of them… they have plenty of time.
I suggest trying to go for smaller DJs on lesser labels rather than asking Carl Cox for an exclusive 4 hour guest mix to your 3rd radio show.
PM sent mussi.

Yeah your totally right man I need to suck lol I have been sending out emails and Facebook messages etc. I’m not going for the top top djs but some pretty well know and some more underground but everyone seems busy and most don’t reply but that’s to be expected I suppose
yeahh man as United Vision said . making acquaintances helps u get there.
i met promoters that have been ****heads, and very disrespectful to me .
I learned that having a Pride in this business doesn’t help . unfortunately u never know when you will need them .
keep talking to them , post your production successes in their page ,manage to keep always in contact with them .
even do they might be deuce bags we need to work with them to get bookings .
if not check DJ AM . he never produced Music and he managed to get Bookings . 20 k. per 2 hours.
IMO that is some BS. but he sucked **** hard for sure lol
I see this in Holland all the time and it really pisses me off, guys that get gigs cos there dad was once a big time music producer or because there dad owns the buildings where alot of events or nightclubs are etc.
This pisses me off to no end because of how hard others have to work for things and how easy these ****heads with no talent get it served up on a silver platter for them.
you hold the keys to your own fate & career. you just have to believe in yourself.
its the choices you make that decide your fate.
most important of all… you just have to make really outstanding music.
if you get good at productions 10/10 times you will get more attention then ANY dj.
I could get plenty of gigs if I wanted to. but i prefer to stay inside on the weekends and produce tracks. while the other guys are out playing big parties and making themselves feel important because they dj’d for a night opening for some DJ that could care less about them… I’m in the studio doing what they only TALK about doing.
and we ALL know how time intensive that being a dedicated producer requires.
So f*ck anybody that thinks they dont gotta work for it. But getting down on yourself or being just plain jealous is not the way to be. I use those guys as inspiration for doing things that they CANT DO and WONT DO, because they are too stupid to do it in the first place.

+1
i know peter from heaven to hell records we both were involved in some techno projects, poundingtechno.com with our Fingerprints series and absolute-technoise radio. We did some radio shows together.
I know what you mean, for the Fingerprint series we also had some issues getting big names, once a few did some mixes for us it became more easier.
I’ve had Bas Mooy at my party for a friends price last year which was great but i knew him from some projects. I also now some people at XT3 radio but not sure they are willing since they have their own shows…
