anyone know of a good process/effect tricks etc to get wide stereo effects but without mono phase issues…
Fedde Le Grande gets some great stereo on “let me think about it” with the “MM MMM MMMM” vocal hook and the “trumpet” hooks, but the damn thing sounds just as good in mono… doesnt lose any volume in the hooks at all.
well since your a subscriber im sure youve seen all the videos here…theres plenty that show tricks for increasing your stereo image on vocals and instruments, like the kansas city shuffle walkthrough.now for increasing overall image on a mix and any sort of surgical fixes or enhancements one may need to apply to either the stereo or mono signal i use bx digital,to “only widen” up vocal parts i may use waves doubler, audio damage’s dischord 2, sound toys pitchblender, or a similar plugin
Try adjusting the vocal very slightly to the left or right of the vocal on the other channel so they don’t quite sit together but still sound like they are.

what im after is the real WIDEEEEEEEEE pad/hook sounds that still sound gd/powerful/unphased out (no loss in volume)
Phasing is caused by two of the same frequencies moving at the same time, it causes one to cancel the other out. If you’re slightly adjusting them, then they arn’t moving at the same time.
There is an artical that Deadmau5 wrote about synth waves, he suggests about extracting your multiple waves down to audio and placing them together but adjusting them slightly to the left/right, so you get around the phase issues.
I think it might be online somewhere, google it, it’s a good read

yes most likey this will just kind of phatten them up.it will not really do that much for the overall width of the image.the plugs i suggested are excellent for pulling a split harmonizer effect, which is pretty much a standard for widening and thickening vocals.
