Work in Progress

I only registered on here a couple of months ago and i have learned loads

This is the closest i’ve come to finishing a track, still needs mastering and a couple of changes to the arrangement but overall i’m quite happy with it…in particular the breakdown/build up in the middle considering it’s the first time i’ve attempted doing one!

The only thing i want to do is make the drum roll in the build up stand out a bit more…anyone any suggestions?

Other feedback and suggestions greatly appreciated

Hey man Welcome! Is there anyway you could upload it to somewhere like soundcloud? That way it would be easier for us here to help you out.

+1 for sound cloud

upload your track on sound cloud. copy the embed code into message box and that’s it;)

Sorry lads, i did try before but i kept having problems, it was saying it was too hot for some reason?

Anyway, here it is…

PS Phil, i have put your endless riser mini tutorial to good use in the breakdown!

One question i do have is on the drum roll during the build up in the middle, it’s a little muddy, can anyone suggest how i can make it have a little more impact?

I’m also thinking another element needs adding when it kicks back in after the breakdown. Maybe another Synth? Thoughts?

I’m also thinking the kick needs beefing up a bit?

not a bad first track, the thing that stands out most to as being ‘wrong’ sounding is the little echoey stab, it kinda sounds like maybe its in the wrong place or has the wrong groove on it also sounds kinda out of key…

Nice first attempt… few things to work on.

The kick should be louder than the bass… at the mo they are blending in as one sound… try a stronger kick or lower the volume of the bass.

A lot of your stabs and hits fall on the beat or randomly… try to work in loops to build a groove with some hits not on the 1st beat… your grid should be split in to 16… beats 1,5,9,13 are on the beat so… try some hits on like 4 7 etc.

your build up is bigger than your main par so when it kicks back in to your groove everything sounds a bit lost.

try to make it so it starts of quiet and goes louder at the end of the break but not so loud it is louder than your main groove… you could also try filtering out some of the bass in your break so it has more impact when the bass kicks back in.

Thanks for the feedback guys, completely agree with the points you have made. Have already changed a few of the things along with adding a couple of other elements so will re-post once finished
