Working on an oldskool sounding hardcore track

I have had writer’s block for well over a week now, and was trying to shift between my projects, and just getting nowhere.

A guy suggested to me to try a hardcore track as I haven’t done one yet, and as I’m not too fond of the newer UK hardcore sound, I thought I’d try my arm at oldskool sounding. This is 170bpm

Started this morning at 2am or so… here is 3.20 mins of the work in progress.

If you have any tips or comments, good or bad, I’ll take all on board as it’s all a learning curve. I think it’s now time for a quick snooze!

wow, was blown away by that mate. nice one!

you def got the right things going on there, maybe the kick is a bit bassy compared to older hardcore. and the older stuff always sounded to me like it had a clap on every kick too, but maybe it was the old slammin vinyl tape packs that came across like that

maybe try to add a piano in somewhere, or the short cheeky riff sounds in some kind of melody.

reading this back it makes no sense to me lol, and hopefully you dont take it the wrong way as i’ve seen some people get eggy on here when people give feedback\pointers on their tracks!

anyway keep up the good work you’re deffo onto something with this one

Nice one, thanks.

No you are perfectly ok with your comment. I genuinely like constructive criticism, bad comments are just as important as good ones… It helps you learn!

There has been some small suggestions from various people for light changes… All taken on board, and will act on as many as sounds right.

Watch this space.

Again, ta for the comments, I appreciate the honesty
