Would you renew your subscription when your 12 month contract expires?

Why do you ask
hell yeah!!!
just gone to watch the hard dance tut only to discover my subscription has run out so i’ll be renewing it next week…
its the best site i’ve found on the web why you asking if people would renew???
yes, it’s turned out to be an excellent purchase on my behalf and has really helped me understand what it is I’m trying to do…
Music making can still be frustrating for a beginner like me but Sonic Academy has gone a long way to making it less so.
I’m yet to see another website that so specifically covers the process.
yes I have and I would again in the future but i’m surprised sonic don’t give a discount on annual re-subscription?? would be a very good incentive to re-subscribe…
Marc
I have been thinking that I am going to sack mine off but I am going to give them another year when mine is up as think SA have a few bigger and better things planned for us over the next year!
Hi I was just wondering what people thought they know what they are talking about but I think a lot of the tracks are terrible maybe would be nice if they got people that made and maybe DJ say techno or any other genre of music to make a video on how to make techno or the genres they are into instead of Bryan or Phil making all the videos maybe they could get guests to make videos and get a different perspective
For me its is less about the track and more about the techniques and tips… i could spend an extra week or too on each track and come up with killer riffs and sounds but thats kinda your job. We are here to spark ideas and ceativity not to make a track for you to copy from start to finish and release. Music is about creativity and hopfully we give you some tools and ideas to help that along.
If you feel the tracks arnt maybe as good as you could do yourself maybe youve out grown the need for these type of tutorials which is great! it means we are doin our jobs getting you from the basics through to a point where you feel you could do better. We dont expect everyone to stay subscribed forever.
we have tried and will still try to get guest producers… fact is any of the good ones are too busy djing or producing to spend a month making a track just for a tutorial.
We are looking into getting some to do walk-through type stuff.

I actually think some of the songs are actually really good and they actually know what they are talking about and teach techniques preety good and i have learned alot and it has made me somewhat of a better person because ive been teaching this kid and some other people and they look up to me and i think its preety cool…and can you rephrase what you said about techno please i quite didn’t understand you…

This
i dont actually see any problem with the tracks i think there pretty good and full of tips etc
infact if it was not for sa i’d probabally of given up trying to make music its such a steep learning curve and sa is the only source of info i have without it i’d of been screwed…
I would renew myself even though im not long signed too the site… I have learnt loads from this site already and plenty more things still to learn - best site by far for teaching the basics of music production and im sure with many tutorials ahead still to come
I also feel that for your 100 bangers you get good value for money and when you say follow all the courses and do them yourself alongside the tutorials then your going to be a much better skilled producer as to the time before you subscribed. A complete noob can learn a hell of alot here. Also just because you ask 100 times for a HTSL in your preferred style and SA doesn’t respond is definately not a reason to cancel your subscription or give SA grief really. I don’t believe there are any subscribers that have learnt nothing from the tutorials. For me a really unexpected but pleasent tutorial was the DIY one cos I really had no clue. The tutorials on HTSL I also think are great starting points for those styles. I mean there’s something for everyone really. The only tutorial I didn’t like was the series of how to remix, I was really expecting alot more but I thought the song they picked was god awful really really bad! Also I was sooooo looking forward to seeing Chris Agnelli in action giving away his trance top tips but he ended up doing a style that well… I don’t know what it was? Can’t wait for his Trance tutorial, I just hope it’s a completely fresh track or a classic Agnelli and Nelson track and not the old HTSL trance tutorial just rehashed into logic.
look, phil is right like.
there is only so much they can teach us here before ya have to just put ya head down and start producing your own style.
all the best dance tracks have been kept very simple but so effective!!!
I will be renewing as have learned a lot and have a lot more to learn. Phil is right just getting the basis down of each style of EDM will help. There is no other site like this out there and for me this is the only one I subscribe to now. Thanks for all you do SA.
Also think about your future money making potential. Few years down the line you can start making tracks for people and charge them. It pays to be able to serve a drum n bass wana be as well as the minimal tribal fellow that is nice enough to bring you a wad of cash. Get all your basses covered you don’t wana be caught off guard.

Yeah realy good point… producing for other people is agreat way to earn a bit of cash and learn how to finish tracks in a few differnt genres. I did it for a few years and it really sharpened my skills.
Phil you must be wadded!
jjdejong0 (14/09/2010)
Phil you must be wadded! :p
you’d think!!! well until you come on here on a Friday night and catch one of his drunken ramblings and realize that he spends it all on beer and kebabs
