My 3 year old loves the incas. We have a little book about them & the spanish.
I have to interpret the pictures in a nicer way than the text to avoid nightmares. He thinks the spanish are bad people for robbing the gold. Thats where we park it 
Whenever he hears the word spain, he says that you can get oranges from there & they are bad people. LOL
We also have a book on Scott of the Antartic.
Scott doesnt die in my version & Titus Oates went home cos he was not feeling well
