I really don’t know why I’m posting this but just had to get it off my chest. Youtube is the WORST place to find good advice on music production… There’s way to many inexperienced people making tutorial videos on music production. They give their video an amazing title portraying themselves as one of the elites. “Get the perfect kick drum!” Yet their result is complete sh*t. Or showing you how to create a synth patch just by telling you which knobs to turn; yet they don’t understand what that parameter really does. People demonstrating techniques which they don’t understand themselves. Plus how many times does this come up, “How to make Skrillex…” Although I have has success with youtube. For every 20 bogus tutorials you’ll find one decent/ good one. Some of the techniques I’ve learned with Sonic Academy I use in every one of my productions. Tech Tips is wicked. The price which they go for is very generous. Dubspot’s course fees are redonkulous. It seems like if the lesson has an amazing title or the course’s price is through the roof you’re just wasting your time. Can’t thank Sonic Academy enough!
I agree there are a lot of really poor tutorials on YouTube.br
br
But there are some really good ones out there as well.br
br
It’s the same as anything on the internet - you really have to filter through all the rubbish to find the good stuff!br
br
The problem is that anyone can post a ‘tutorial’ these days, all you need is a computer and some free software to capture your computer screen i guess!br
br
But i have noticed that there are increasingly more and more good quality tutorials cropping up now.br
br
We are quite lucky these days - when i started producing about 7 years ago, there was very little, you literally had to try and figure out everything for yourself!br
br
Of course, Sonic Academy wasn’t around then either!br
br
It’s much better these days for learning than it used to be.
Yeah it’s defo full of turd! I find “music pro tutorials” Danny j Lewis is really good he used to work at point blank
Nice rant :Dnbsp;nbsp; /PPI do agree mostly.nbsp; I’ve found a few really good channels down the years that post awesome tutorials.nbsp;nbsp; But for every one good vid you find, there’s probably about ten bad ones./PPI recommend following 7Skies (trance producer).nbsp; Some of his earlier vids are in broken english (he’s italian) but I find his videos really informative.nbsp; Not so much tutorials but he gives an insight into his workflow and how he pulls his tracks together. Worth adding anyway
