In Texas u can buy Guns and Rifles with out that much paperwork.
also they have the most death Penalty sentences in any other states.
If it’s not guns that kill people, but rappers, why arn’t the US and British forces arming their troops with the finest lyrical rap artists the world has ever seen??

[quote]St. ICNholas (20/12/2010)[hr]@Bach - Thats a shame about your College Mate… But I’m v.surprised that you dont know that part of history anyway, being from the US - You are American, arent you?
Cant remember man, Sorry
Just that we usually learn all that type of foreign history stuff in school, when we’re maybe 8,9 or 10.

LOL!
Yeah we do too, but I just forgot most of it since you don’t really use any of it till later in life, and since it was one of the electives offered I just felt that I really wanted to refresh my memory and become more involved. It’s like this game show we have here called “Smarter Than a Fifth Grader.” It’s all this useless knowledge that you are taught, but you just forget about over time.
as an american the biggest problem we have is a spending problem. as individuals and as a country. or morals are built on the american dream which is to be free and make as much money without the knowledge of how to manage it. our states owe billions which will certainly be our next crisis. or laws are basic through the federal government(law of the land) but more specific depending on each state. how much time you do for stealing something in california may be a little less or more(but not to far off) then in say utah where there is nothing but open farm land.
texas is the worst!!! if you kill some body in texas forget it they will execute you!!

I read that the US will be in meltdown because of its pension deficit which runs into trillions
The American Dream. it is another way the government uses to make people believe that the Capitalism in the US is still strong and Running . I work as a Loan Officer for a big American Bank . and the policies to give people loans are just stupid as hell ( i am not going in to detail but just letting everyone know that as long that u have a lien u can get any kind of loan )
sometimes i feel bad giving loans to people that i am sure that cant afford to pay . i sometimes feel that telling them that renting a home is better than owning one.
i sometimes feel that i can save them of the Capitalism , making them believe that the American Dream is just an merely Illusion.
as most people in the US i learned that the Capitalism is just a lie to make the rich people richer and the poor people Poorer . so yeahh somehow i believed in the American Dream and i have to pay the ***ing house that i cant afford. **** the Capitalism !!!
So basically in a nutshell what you’re saying is… f*ck the american dream? lol
I don’t really understand it personally, what is the ‘american dream’ exactly? Is it anything more than what everyone else in every other country wants? A good home, a good income and wife and family?
What’s so ‘american’ about this dream of theirs?
I think The American Dream came from late 40s when US basically had the strongest economy as the rest of the world including the UK owed them money for the 2nd world war, The dream was that under capatilism anyone could be a millionaire (probably a billionaire in today’s money)
Ofcourse thats a complete lie as capatilism can only have a minute people at the top where the majority would never reach that goal - it also creates an underclass of people who will have no hope off work or have to travel 6 hours a day for a mimimum wage
Interesting about loans still given out as the UK banks are being alot more stringent - but then Obama’s policy seems to be print more money and therefore create spending while over here its cut spending - it will be intersting to see which policy will work
Only thing for sure Capatilism is in crisis (not got an alternative) but when my son is my age I guarantee it will be a very differnt world to we know now
It will be a very different world alright. I’ve seen the same cartoon Slender.
We’re all gonna have robot servants & drive hover cars.
Bring on the orgasmatron.
Sorry… Thought I replied to you earlier.
Sound. I hear that. It gets jettisoned for more important info over the years.
Sometimes I think your brain has a choice. It chooses exactly which brain cells die when you are suffering with a hangover.
Thank god choosing between history & the cells needed to operate breathing is a no-brainer!

Well they definitely named it correctly, american ‘dream’.
That kinda living could only be possible if there was no such thing as greed and power. Which really when you think about it, the irony is laughable because America is also known for their greed and power.

i wouldn’t exactly say “F” the american dream. their a lot of people that live by this code and do well in the US. It’s defining the american dream that can be debated. Some consider getting a house and good job the american dream and others feel that making as much money as can without any regard to anything else is the american dream. The term can come with good intentions or bad ones.

I think its more to do with the American image abroad with decades of being the strongest ecomomic and political clout, that the leaders have come rather complacement - only need to read the cables being leaked currently though not surprising they do have an air of arrogance which the rest of the world picks up on
