Don’t dream it’s over…
Am I wrong feeling hungry now
alinenunez (21/12/2010)
I work as a Loan Officer for a big American Bank . and the policies to give people loans are just stupid as hell ( i am not going in to detail but just letting everyone know that as long that u have a lien u can get any kind of loan )
sometimes i feel bad giving loans to people that i am sure that cant afford to pay . i sometimes feel that telling them that renting a home is better than owning one.
i sometimes feel that i can save them of the Capitalism , making them believe that the American Dream is just an merely Illusion.
as most people in the US i learned that the Capitalism is just a lie to make the rich people richer and the poor people Poorer . so yeahh somehow i believed in the American Dream and i have to pay the ***ing house that i cant afford. **** the Capitalism !!!
I used to work for a broker firm and left because they were feeding people loans that they could not afford. Mainly these were the interest only loans that were not explained properly to people. I couldn’t sleep at night knowing that I was contributing to people’s financial downfall. I left and exposed the company to the local newspaper who in turn did a full story on the company. The company was forced to close 3 months later. Alinenunez, you sound like a good person, but as long as you keep feeding people these loans you are no better than the people I just described. I urge you to get out of that company or stop giving loans to people who cannot afford them. This problem will not go away until we stand up and say I’m not doing this anymore.
Side note: I think you may have just mistyped, but if you have a lien against you then you cannot get any kind of loan. A lien basically means that you owe money. There are many different kinds of liens, but none of them are a good thing.
Good for you jbachjr78, for exposing them
There’s probably a lot in this world you don’t understand roben haha I’ve never met a Mormon that fits the description you mention, in fact i would go as far as to say the total opposite and that you really have no idea who you are talking about… (not saying that in a ****ty way)
Are you sure you are not talking about Amish people.
Not saying you have on this thread but this is quite possibly why people in the past people have seen your rants and stuff as being racist, because you kinda get the facts and descriptions mixed up and kinda lose your way in the debates you initially start.
Amish? Mormon?
I just googled imaged amish and got these:
So yeah they must be the guys as they were who i was thinking off. (I did ask who they were earlier in the thread lol)
Anyways it’s good having a mature conversation about history, politics and the likes, i only ask because i’m fascinated and curious.
I’m not born knowing everything in life, i just want to know about the world and people who live in it and its cultures and beliefs, no harm in that?

Nope no harm at all

Those are clearly Amish people in that picture. They believe in no modern technology and take the bible quite literally.
Mormon is a religion with views that can also be looked at as primitive but live in the every day world.
I think the Amish live in Pennsylvania.

They do indeed.
They’re about an hour from where I live in New Jersey. We go on field trips there when we are young. Also, it is a nice weekend getaway. The land there is beautiful. Even here in New Jersey we have Amish markets. They are some of the best places to get fresh produce along with other fresh foods that they make (i.e. butter, pies etc.).
Wow, I feel bad and owe everyone an apology. I must have missed the part in the first post about the question of who are the people that do not use technology. I couldn’t understand why there were all these weird posts about Mormons and time periods. I was only focusing on the political questions. :hehe: I could have cleared this up in my first post. Thanks for pointing it out Jon.

nope no harm at all thats why i wrote what i wrote and i did mention that i wasn’t trying to be sh$ty about it.
haha jbachjr78, least the confusion is over!
I remember not too long ago there was this real tradegy where this nutter gun man opened fire on Amish school children in their class.
When I was reading the story, that’s what got me interested about their people and beliefs, something about them not believing in electricity or vehicles?
You’d think they’d belive in electricity though, when the heavens open and grand strikes set across the sky, surely they’d see that as the power of god in all his glory?

LOL - I think they beleive in electricity just not using it
Yup, Slender is correct. To them it’s not that they don’t believe in technology, it’s that they think that it is blasphemy. As Jon mentioned Amish is not a religion, but they are a subgroup of Christianity who formed Mennonite churches. If a member uses any form of technology then they are excommunicated if they cannot get them to repent. I just learned something new as well. Apparently they are not even allowed to collect Social Security or fight in the Armed services.
Don’t worry I’m not knocking it, as each to their own beliefs and way of life and all that, buuuut… it seems like selective technology to me, lamps, door hinges and even the wheel are a form of technolgy, so really it’s quite a contradictory belief. lol
They sort of remind me of hasidic jews, who also have extreme views concerning their faith
I used to live in an area in London with a very large hasidic community, infact one oof them was our landlord who was actually very honest and fair too us only nothing would be fixed or telephone answered on a saturday. The bad side was a hasidic woman up the street went to the police as her husband was abusing her, the next day there were about 200 men stoning the house as she went outside the community

But all the things you mentioned existed at the time when Christ was alledgedly around
Christ was using the technology that was available at his time though?
Surely if Christ was here today, he’d also use the technology of todays times?
Just common sense?
Perhaps i’ll stop questioning peoples faiths… I don’t want to offend anyone.
I pretty much bet my life that no one from the Amish faith will be reading your posts Rob - infact even me as an unbeliever stuggle with your posts

lol. yah they are definitely not searching the nets looking for anti-amish speak.
i live in PA about a half hour from the amish community. they are all pretty cool if you talk to them. and they are not oblivious to technology. the whole thing is about “living with only what we need and our Faith in God.”. amish people can often make pretty good livings though. There is a couple big Amish Construction Contractors that make tons of money building houses for people. They have great quality work and take a lot of pride in being builders/masons/etc…
Mormons on the other hand are entirely different. you really don’t meet many Mormons around where I live on the East coast. most of them live in Utah and out west. Most Mormons are good, decent & hard working people. the thing about Mormons that people hate on is the whole having 8 wives thing. Mormons can also be pretty fanatical about their book. which is basically a whole bunch of BS some dude wrote down and claimed “god” told him to do it. south park did the best Mormon episode.
8 wives, where do i sign up
…oh hold on, that means being nagged 8 times more
