Anybodie can be a Dj . :D

just tired to see. Posers, fags , haters , whores ETC. who have the misconception that Djing is for fame , Drugs, and other stupid ****.

REMEMBER THAT IS FOR THE LOVE OF MUSIC. not just getting wasted, with Drugs .

Hate to see some trashy Djs being all ***ed up with xtc. and trying to think that they are rock stars

Blehhh!!

I feel better now

Totally agree its all about diamonds :stuck_out_tongue:

I donno if any of you read mixmag, but there is a small paragraph in it every month called “The 3 am girl” it’s basically about top dj’s making complete tits of themselves while getting ****ed up and gettin caught.

It’s nice to see someone dont care how famous they are, and if they step out of line they will surely be takin down a peg of 2.

People are delusional, they think because they can get a bit of hardware to mix two tunes together whilst they just drag and drop, that they there-for must be ‘cool’.

Even using 2 x CDJs is easy and boring. I need at least 3 just to keep myself entertained, even then i still feel held back and limited.

What would be really great is some how geling 3 cdjs on 3 mixer channels and the 4th channel being used for Ableton based stuff with attached sampler and a midi keyboard.

That would be my ideal to be honest.

This is why I like the S4 (did I mention I have one of these yet :P).

Although you have the traktory ‘press-and-sync’ thing going on (if you want to) the 4 channels you do have are flexible, can be used for loops (4 in one deck, individually triggerable) or one shots, of you can set a deck up to take the signal from something else if you wish.

Some of the Breaks/Bassline House stuff I like doesn’t go so well with FX and mucking about, more emphasis on the tunes itself and good old fashioned mixing, but when I go 4/4 or up into the more hard techno-y vibe then this stuff really works well with bells, whistles, loops, edits Fx etc.

I love it all though, CDJs, Vinyl, Controllers - the lot. I struggle to understand these purist types that only do vinyl, or these gadget kids that only do iPad mixing or whatever.

I have a bit of it all, and each has something to offer, why be narrow minded about it?

I played in a dj comp a few years ago and saw a guy play 2 turntables, a cdj and from what I could see at least 3 tracks in live wi a midi controller, he was only 18 at the time, I can honestly say it was the best dj performance I have ever seen I’m my live. The only way I could describe it is it was like watching the scratch perverts but there was only one of him, chopping cutting scratching and juggling the ****e out of it.

It was before the whole Social networking buzz and I tried tracking him down a few times to come play in my hometown but never could manage to get a hold of him but I always had this idea he would suddenly appear big on the scene,

anyway he never did and I only found out a few months ago he ended up hooked on the junk, sold all his gear and moved to Dublin to more or less live in the crack houses and on the streets.

Bit of a grim story but it hits me everytime I think of it,

Very sad and such a waste of somethin very very special.

@Roben do you own traktor ? get some x1 or the new tracktor controler to make mash up with 3 to 4 channels. traktor got some great looping tools for Djs . :).

It wasn’t ICN was it?

Haha naaaa…

But I’d bet you anything mr. ICN has some kinda weird and wackey back story from the day.

He strikes me as that kinda fella lol

haha!

I’ve avoided this thread all day - thinking… Nah, thats not something that I’d be interested in reading.

LO & BEHOLD - I’m being talked about - LOL

Nah - Thats definitely not me. Electricity wasnt invented in Ireland back when I was playing the Edison Cylinders

@ Bubble - I’ll call you BS from now on… (Just your initials Mate - LOL)

But… Yeah, everyones got a story.

We’re a right ****ing mix here. Thats the cool thing about life. Its all about different phases. Think about all the different people you’ve known, things you’ve been into, jobs you’ve had & places you’ve lived.

A lot of us here have probably crammed a sh!tload of living into a short space of time.

Thank F U C K though. We’re long enough dead.

to be honest i really couldn’t care less what someone does how they do it or what they are using. I mix because i want to mix, i enjoy it and always have and i mix on what ever is available at the time. imo it takes no more skill to mix using any of the methods available at the moment.

Exactly, I can never understand why people get such a wasp in their a$s about it.

Used to be Guitarists against DJs, now they are turning on their own kind!

Awww great now I’m the “bull sh.it” guy Sweet haha

I only have a problem with people who use software to do all the work for them, whilst they just drag and drop any old tune with no real thought about the listener or the flow of the mix, click a button to match the timing then poorly mix the two without any use of EQ, whilst doing nothing else, then claim to be ‘DJs’.

I wouldn’t get a TB 909, push some buttons then go around claiming myself to be a drummer.

i sincerely dont care if they are digital Djs. at least they should play some good Music. and learn when to play the right music at the right time. something that u rarely nowadays .

Exactly, at least the tracks will be in sync. I’ve been out to so many clubs and heard “Vinyl” dj’s clashing all night (that includes some big names) software is never gonna turn a **** of none dj into a great dj but it will make them an Ok dj and If you’re a great dj you’ll never really be bothered about the competition.

To be fair i suck at djing now and my mixes arnt up to much due to lack of practice and the want to learn something new but i still think that if i didn’t know how to mix Originally software wouldn’t help me all that much. maybe with beat matching but thats one part of mixing and probably the simpliest part, software will never do the other elements for you.
