Are we going to get any new HTSL other than House?

There seems to be a lot of house stuff here… most of the tech tip are based on house tunes… all the new vids are progressive house or of a house genre. Not my cup of tea, yeah they are helpful but me and other are crying out for some new trance type stuff.

The one thats here is pretty out dated and incomplete (an e-mail from support confirmed this to me) but yet there is nothing new for all us trance lovers…

So when will we get some more trance stuff please please please and thanks

I totally agree no more house for the time being, trance, DnB even ambient, infact anything just to mix it up a bit.

i hope so,

i made a thread about this for a new updated trance tut and havnt received many +1’s for it. probably coz its more house orientated on here. not my cup of tea neither

there’s like 7 or 8 house tutorials with only 2 trance 1’s. bearing in mind we’ll all agree trance and house are the 2 most popular genres of dance music. statisticly!

yeah i’d like to see more trancey stuff even tho its kinda become stale for me, i like looking at how trance tracks are put together musically more than production wise because i dont think anything fresh has happened in the genre in over 10 years, maybe some of you could point me in the direction of interesting trance if it even exists

agree with you there!

its turning into more electronic trance isnt it!

like the kinda deadmau5 ‘its not exactly’ stuff

trance dj’s still top the dj list every year though…

in fact thats a good idea!

maybe an electronic trance tutorial???

personally, I think there should be about a 3 month lul in the HTSL series all together. I think that the majority of the users would benefit from two things more so then the HTSL stuff. First off is the basic principals of music creation. They did this with compression and I think reverb too. They should keep this going. The other thing is they should just record themselves in a natural environment making a track. Not that bullcrap prefab stuff. How does it happen when they are making a track for themselves. How about doing that, but without it scripted. Record them and the computer screenshare and produce it going back and forth and have the creator tell the camera what he is thinking and why he is doing certain things. This should also include messing aorund and creating the sound and why something sounds better then what they are doing and why they chose a sound.

I disagree here, sure its good to know how compression works or reverb and its gonna help… but I want to know how to get the kinda sound some of my fav producers are getting and then I’ll be able to get my own.

At the moment I find my self sitting about thinking I want that bloody sound in my track how the **** do I get it… argh, pulling my hair out trying to get it… so lets look at the HTSL tuts, maybe that will help or point me the right way… No because there is not enough in my genre that will lead to what I’m looking for. So please more HTSL other the bloody house (and for me Trance please)

Sorry Howie, I know u like a good argument and that the final word on this one!! HAHA

Well, if you knew the fundamentals (no disrespect) it wouldn’t be hard to figure out the sound that youre looking for. I go to Berklee School of Music and I have a synthesis class right now. Things are becoming more and more clear how things are created by what I am learning. Thats why I point out that. From experience. You cant have everyone show you how to make a sound every time. you are gonna have to figure it out on your own eventually.

very wise senor HOwie hehe !!I agree with him . trying to make a tutorial in how to imitate someone else synth sound or bass is not going to help anyone .the only way of learning is thru practice a lot . knowing synthesis is the best way to not only imitate sounds but also to create new ones.

very true

yeah, agree, very true.

but seriously, this site does need a new trance tut though!

I’d recomend the dance music manual for people interested in trance as thats got good a chapter on it. There’s already Prog House, Tech Trance, Prog Electro, Swedish House Mafia and plain Trance vids covering that kind of sound, surely thats enough?! I honestly think trance is a pretty easy genre to make compared to others. Trancey synth sounds are the easiest to programme, arrangements are pretty basic, as are the basslines and drum rhythms. Chord structures aren’t complex like say deep house. I agree with Howie though on getting the basics right. Its important to understand what your doing and not just be copying the HTSL videos.

I was thinking the same thing too dude !! i mean trance synth programming is really easy . most of the Trance doesnt have that organic elements . like Horns , Rhodes , etc. like most EDM have.

i dont think it is enough.

theres 7 or 8 house tuts and 2 trance!

trance dj’s top the list every single year, thus makin it, statiscly, the most popular dance music because its the listeners that vote. right?

and its not easy by no means,

the breakdowns are so complex and technical and we havnt got a tut that covers the big euphoric, ever so popular sound

dunno why ppl are agaisnt it?

its well over due.

another reason why its definately not enough, you’ve got a lot of house producers on here askin for more house HSTL tuts when theres already like 7!!!

Right so everyone else should pay there money and miss out because trance dj’s top the charts that are organised by magazines that generally specialise and support trance.

Yes there are a few house tutorials but, and lets not forget tance sits well within the house genre as well, but the gauling thing is you’re dismissing the house tutorials on the exact same basis that you’re saying everyone else is dismissing trance.

The fact of it is there are lots of sub genres, and to cover every single one of them is not possible. I’d like more in depth deep house tutorials covering the styles i like for the exact same reasons you state, but I understand that they need to cover more then just what i want, and for them to cover the drastically different aspects between genres is far more important then a very specific sub genre.

And essentially you should be taking the skills from all of these genres into your production within the the scene of your choice.

I’m listening to all the other tuts to, and as I’ve said they are helpful, not complaining at all, but we do need a more even spread, there is clearly a prefferance for house and by what you’ve said that means we’re paying you house jockys… not the other way around.

I asked sonic about the trance tut as its incomplete, the last vid says we will be moving on to the breakdown and then nothing… I email about this and I got:

“hi,

yes, i’m sorry but the videos were corrupted during our site transfer. there are breakdown videos in electro house and progressive house which would be similar.

i’m sorry i can’t help you more and hope these videos will fill the gap.”

And they dont because the breakdowns are totally diffrent… so the only one we have remains incomplete…

So Sonic, can we have a full and complete euphoric trance tut because at present there is none! (complete ones not including tech trance that is) And I would go as far to say I didnt pay for incomplete tuts.

Hey mate, sorry if that sounded like i was having a pop, I do understand your frustration, that’s a little bit annoying that the file is corrupt and there is no alternative. I do agree in that case it should get finished or a new one should be done.

I’m quite happy for there to be more trance tutorials, like you i try and watch each one to see what i can learn from it.

but i don’t think just because trance is popular that it should take precedent, in the same way deep house or Nu disco etc… should take precedence because they are more popular or my prfrence - which is my initial point. Having said that we all pay our money so we all deserve to be heard with what we want. i just don’t subcrive to there being any form of favouritism, as i guess alot of it depends no them being able to have a tutor who can do that tutorial well and deliver it on time.

I think they do a reasonably decent stab at covering a lot of genres on here, and it’s really more about giving people the tools and a base to build on then an indepth fully finsihed mastered track of any specific genre.
