Can we get a quick tutorial on how to get that Twocker bass sound. I’ve done much searching and there doesn’t seem to be much in the way of information on this particular rolling bass sound. I’m sure it’s tons of modulation and envelopes. I feel like I don’t really need to post an example of Twocker. I will oblige if I need to though!

Come on now lot, I can’t be the only one that wants to learn this kind of sound. Or am I?!?
Raymond
21 views in 2 days and no responses! Something tells me that I’m not the only one that wants to see this! I’ve been tinkering trying to figure it out, and I’ve got it so that I have the LFO’s modulating the pitch and cutoff. The sound is right on, but it doesn’t sound right when I lay down a riff. I’m sure it has something to do with the tweaking of the timing, and possible external fx. Phil, please take a crack at the TWOCKER sound. I’m really after the basses, the drums are standard practice IMHO… Much respeck!
Raymond
post a link to the sound… some people might not have heard of him. i hadnt.
Here’s a very basic example. I’m looking for a more technical one now…

Here is exactly what I mean. EXACTLY…

the link is acting funny. copy and pasting it seems to work fine though. so, a tutorial on this exact tune would cover wonk and breaks all in one! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!! This is the future of music as I see it!!! personal preference of course
Raymond
Now the link thing is bugging me because I can’t figure it out. It does work copy and paste though. Might be something to do with either the length of it or beatport.
Raymond
OK! I’ve fixed the link. Something not working with the hyperlink in the forum, but I’m able to do an html tag instead by hand… Here’s the linky!
CLICK ME!!
especially that bass!!!
Raymond
FINALLY!!! I had asked for the same/similar type bassline sound…
I was asking how to make that old fashion speed garage [whoomp whoomp] sound…
Twocker bassline tuts will work!!!
Guys, it may be worth holding out till the breaks tutorial comes out, this kinda sound is very similar to breaks. Infact CTRL-Z covered this kinda wonky bassline sound in a producer masterclass dvd free with Computer Music mag (Feb).
He used Massive, try getting hold of that, it’s a wicked plug in.
No can do! Ctrl_Z is nothing like this sound. I’m a breaks head as well as many others on this forum and they would agree. Also, the dvd tutorial couldn’t even compare to the quality of tutorials coming from here. I know that its not many people forte’ to go for this stuff, but aren’t you all ready for a refreshing change from electro house and trance? I mean 4 to the floor is still 4 to the floor 15 hours later after listening to it. Also, we heard that there might be a breaks tutorial coming from Graham, but that never went beyond that conversation. Phil didn’t mention it either when he mentioned the tutorials coming up in my recent post. The next one is another electro/prog track as well according to that. I’m just saying, something outside of the box for the rest of us!!! I feel like an electro master but still don’t know crap about the music I want to learn! Wonky bassline house and breaks!!!
Raymond
Not to sound caddy, but almost 100 ppl will have looked at this by the end of today. One of the most popular posts thus far. I think that means it deserves immediate attention…
Raymond
Raymond is EXACTLY RIGHT!
We have house tuts after house tuts…
We NEED A CHANGE IN FORMAT.
Sonic Academy is suppose to teach us how to produce tracks…
Hint: You’e already taught us how to make house/trance.
Let’s get some Florida breaks, Miami Bass, UK 2 Step, Speed Garage, UK Nu skool Breaks, all with “wonky basslines”
Graham what the heck are you doing… let’s get those tuts for subscribers already
I think that feelin the luv track is what I’m looking for as well…
We ALL SHOULD KNOW the classic song spin spin sugar [armand van Helden remix] that was sort of what I had in mind when I said I wanted to know that classic speed garage bassline… Twocker did a remix to that song as well that was very good.
As far as the Florida Breaks/Miami Bass type stuff. I just really want to know how to make a good deep “Subwoofer” bassline. I’ve tried to mess around with kicks and turn the decay, stretch all the way up and the freq all the way down but it just doesn’t quite sound the same as some Miami Bass stuff…
We’re not replying because we all secretly hate you because you didn’t say please
I’m kidding - maybe people just don’t care about this sound or know how to replicate it?
I’m a big fan of this wobble bass sound but I’m not really keen on the whole dubstep scene it’s so heavily used in.
Tutorial 1-Dubstep Wobble Bass with Massive - YouTube
I’ve found that to be the most interesting of the tutorials I’ve found on it.
There’s a very good one out there that’s based around a hardware synth but the principles can be applied to a softsynth, I couldn’t find it for you though.
Just because people have looked at it it doesn’t mean they want it, infact they’d reply if they did. Also the views are made up by how many times people click the thread, so even the thread poster going into the thread a few times would rack up the views.
You moan about no more 4 to the floor but you’re asking for Twocker? Contradiction if ever i seen it, and you all know that Graham (the resident Breaks buff) is already getting on a tutorial.
Anyways i’m not sure if you are aware but House music (4 to the floor) has the biggest scope and broad range of sounds (sub genres) than any other genre, that is why there are more tutorials.
You could for example pretty much cover Hardcore in one tutorial, where as House you need a few.
Also you state there is enough trance already? There is ONE tutorial, which doesn’t go down the Sean Tyas, Simon Patterson, Bryan Kearney route, or even the Tech Trance route. So there is still room for more trance tutorials for us.
I’m all for pretty much any tutorial that is posted up because i’m going to learn something new every time, regardless if it’s the genre i want to produce.
Right now - and the most priority - we need the following tutorials to round things off a bit better on the website:
- Breaks tutorial (Grahams on it)
- Techno (Paul / Phil?)
- Urban ie: Hip Hop, RnB, etc (I hate this stuff but im confident there will be customers to the website who will want this)
I’m sorry if the last thread sounded a bit confrontational/argumentative.
:discuss:
Fight, Fight, Fight!
Roll on the breaks tutorial, sucks to the R&B tutorial!
Have you tried contacting Twocker directly?
I’ve had a fair ammount of sucess with contacting artists, say you’re a fan and ask for tips. Or most DJ’s love coke so you can bribe them with some china for their tips
Hello folks!!
Hold steady as I will have a breaks tutorial up in the near future explaining the full wonk/twocker/fidget bass thing to the max. I have used both Massive, Sylenth and Predator to create this sound recently. It is basically LFOs and filters synched to tempo. Check my Funkasaurus Myspace for the track Bumblebath were the Twocker type thing is in full effect and we’ll keep you posted on the breaks/wonk tutorials asap!
