Hi everyone,
Ive new to Sonic Academy forums, i know that there has just been a poll for the next fantasic installment of ‘‘How to sound like’’ ie Dub Step… but is there any chance of us getting a look of how to make Prog house like Jerome Isma-ae???
Ryan
+1:D
+100
It was popular in the poll for march so fingers crossed SA should make one:cool:
Prog House PLEASE! Jerome Isma Ae is awesome. I personally like Daniel Portman a little bit more. They produce the exact same style but Portman is a little fatter. I think the tutorial should be similar to the song Daniel Portman “Dark is the night for all” Check out the youtube video at - YouTube

+11111 !!! Imo too, Daniel Portman is fatter. I know him since a few weeks and I just can’t stop listening to his tracks… :w00t:
Indeed, “Dark is the Night for all” is a very good track. “Tiny Dolls”, “Disclosure”, “Pulsive”, “Plastik Society” and “Avalanche” are very good too ! Anyone from these would be just beyond my dreams…
It’s hard for me to explain what I feel when i listen to his bass… even in french ! It’s huge, deep… really, i have the feeling that my body is shaking everytime he turns the bass on ! xD
Prog going into production over the next few weeks…

In a different post you mentioned you will be working on it with Phil. I read somewhere that Logic is your DAW of choice, can you tell us if it will be in Logic or Ableton?
Either one would be cool as they translate pretty easy but out of curiosity.
Happy days cheers Sa sooooooooooooooo looking forward to it.:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
looking forward to it,.hope its in logic
well looking forward to it i hope its in Ableton!!!
:-p
Got my vote
i would love to see a tutorial done on Daniel Portman, Stanley Ross -Tiny Dolls (Original Mix)
or
Daniel Portman - Dark Is The Night For All (Original Mix)
or
Daniel Portman - Virtual Suicide (Original Mix)
basically anything by Daniel Portman
although i do really class him as Tech-House as He’s quite dark with very Techno sounding drums
Daniel Portman - Suspicious (Original Mix) Daniel Portman - Back To The Underground (Enrico De Luca Remix) are more Progressive sounding to my ears but i like his dark stuff
To be honest I’m still pretty sure the Deadmau5 tutorial is pretty ‘prog house’. You could however mash it up with the trance tutorial too to get your vibe.

Deadmau5 is a progressive sound but its been done to death and i think the masses are after something with a bit more balls, darker, dirtier and more moody
Looking forward to this
Hope it’s in Logic.

darker, dirtier and more moody :)[/quote]
Everything that progressive house isn’t?
Progressive is hypnotic, emotional and big surprise … progressive.
Someone mentioned ‘jerome isma ae’ here, i’ve got loads of his remixes, listening back quickly to them non of them are dark, dirty or moody.

emotional can also equate to darker/dirtier/moody
really is just semantics though since its probably just different people using different words to describe the sort of emotion they feel from the music

you’ll notice if you read through the above that i said the Names being mentioned in my eyes where more Tech-House/Techno than Progressive House but i wouldn’t mind which ever way SA want to take the tutorial
