Thanks buddy, i spent the last few days watching all your videos actually but clearly it’s not all sunk in yet. I’m trying to get my head around what you wrote too, it’s quite complicated. I may have to re-read over and over and hopefully i’ll ‘get it’, maybe something will click eventually.
I really want to get my head wrapped around it though with full understanding, will help loads because at the moment it f*cks with my head massivly!
Thanks dude
It just all seems so mathematical to me, i’m so bad at stuff like that
Exactly… It really is a language. You can’t expect to write and speak German or French or whatever by tackling it once a week. It must be every day. Repetition (or practice) is key.

I found this thing to help me out personally, thought I may as well post it here as it may help others who havent learnt chords and what not off by heart:
chord house ::: piano room: chords and scales
Again, thankyou so much!
No problem, Mistro!
Glad they helped!

yeah, just finished watching the melody vid at work and i love how you explain things. Any other tutorials coming from you any time soon?
Hey J!
Yeah in a little while. I want to concentrate on making some music for a while and then maybe do some videos on chords if there is demand for them and Phil and Bryan feel like it’d be a good continuation to the series. Like scales and melody, chords are tough and it will take a while to arrange how to teach them in a short, yet informative way.

Man been learning alot since watching these…one thing i been reading about but for some reason cant find much information about is a Counter Melody can you describe it a bit? i hope it wont take time away
A countermelody is just another melodic idea that happens to contrast your main melody in several ways, usually by range, texture, contour, et cetera… For example, say you have a rather rhythmic melody with a punchy sound as your main idea in the area of C3-C4. A nice counter melody might contrast all of those characteristics, which may lead to a resulting countermelody as one which is lyrical, drawn-out or perhaps long-evolving with a more mellow timbre, and in the high-mid range of C4-C5.
Of course, lots of experimenting with the sounds, notes and ranges will help get you closer and closer to the idea that melody/countermelody is really all about healthy banter. Kind of like ICN and Slender when they start bashing each other!
