Melody

All right stop collaborate and listen
ICN is back with my brand new invention
Something grabs a hold of me tightly
Flow like a harpoon daily and nightly
Will it ever stop yo I don’t know
Turn off the lights and I’ll glow
To the extreme I rock a mic like a vandal
Light up a stage and wax a chump like a candle
Dance go rush to the speaker that booms
I’m killing your brain like a poisonous mushroom
Deadly when I play a dope melody
Anything less than the best is a felony
Love it or leave it you better gain weight
You better hit bull’s eye the kid don’t play
If there was a problem yo I’ll solve it
Check out the hook while my DJ revolves it

Or appreciate any type of art that I discover

But what I dig’s invisible

It’s my teacher and I’m its student

I tell ya

Ain’t nothing quite as beautiful as Music”
But surely the beauty of a picture is what you don’t see as well as what you see and poetry and a novel are both invisible too ;)
Dude…get your eyes checked…:D
Thats true
slender (12/06/2011)
I do that ----------- ok I am lying :stuck_out_tongue:

Nice one again Jamie

But however
Music is one of the most DIFFICULT of the arts, because it is a TRUE representation of who you are.
is not something I can agree with - I think any true artist be it sculptor, painter or composer expresses themselves through their own work

Take Sylvia Plath as one example or Van Gough as another both expressed their inner feelings in very differnt ways

As musicians we always at some point get it wrong - I can not think of one musician I can honestly say has produced something 100% perfect everytime - so what we are only human but I feel since music in this day and age is so disposable one can move on - with a novel, sculptor etc I think it is more difficult due to the time it may take too produce and therefore more personal expression goes into it

So I am not saying it is not difficult to express oneself in music production I just think it is not the most

Excellent! I’ll try that out when I crawl out of bed and hit the computer. Haha!

only watched the first one and havent had time to see the paid ones yet but you sound pi$$ off jamie!

“an electric piano, that’s all your getting”

lol

watched them all this afternoon. Best tutorials I have seen on here to understand the theory of music.

clearly explained, especially about the contrasts between rhythm and lyrical melodies and contrasts used to get interesting combinations of the two.

I am still unsure how we can switch between modes within a key and still be in tune but I’ll get it. Plenty of books here at home now to expand on what is a solid solid foundation course.

Mode shifting is really a result of the interplay between your chord progression and the process you take to get your melody. Some people swear by establishing the melody first, and then applying the chords after. Myself, I have always been more fascinated by harmony. Melody is a bit of a weak point for me, because I will literally sit there and question whether or not the melody is good, if it needs tweaking, et cetera…

The idea is allowing the quirky notes of your mode choice add color little by little, kind of like the complex distraction I set up in the 4th video, I think. Little bites of dissonance here and there to color the tones and texture. You’ll get it!

Hah! well, we want to make sure everybody gets included. A universal sound that everyone can relate to avoids the possibility of people screaming favoritism! :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, I really enjoyed these. They have filled in some serous gaps in my knowledge and given me inspiration for my current project. I particularly liked the last vid

I feel ripped off cause I paid for dvd’s on harmony and melody from rick snowman and now its all here - waste of money! I wish sonic would tell us whats coming up so this dosent happen as they where not cheap!

Cool !!! this was what i was waiting for the Music theory tutorials Jamie !! Great Tutorial.
