Plus one

They’ve got Kicks, hats & synths in there. Cool.

One of the synths is called Minimoog
they might use Arturia stuff.

Think they use Logic as their DAW.

Serious amount of stuff in those .zips. Fair play to them.

@Gogz - I’ve posted this in a couple of other places that I use
The more people know the better, they’re a brilliant educational resource. Thanks again!

Just downloaded one - wow your not wrong they are packed
hammondclassics (10/12/2010)
I would really love if somebody was looking forward to co-operate with me to build techno tunes.I use reason 5 and Ableton Live

Any Feedback?
I’m not really into colabrating over the net as its just too damned annoying as its hard to get ideas to merge - but I would say at least put up something your working on and I am sure we could give you some pointers

berghain/ostgut ton style kicks - posted on Blackout Audio Techno Forums
Use a 909 and or 808 kick, drop the decay on em. Add a reverb with much pre-delay (so it bumps in off-beat, measure and compare with offbeat hihats) and late / early reflections, set a lowpass filter in mono to about 200-400 Hz (add a high-pass and cut away 0-50 (or more) on the verb channel and send to the kick (experiment with the send value, it doesn’t sound good using way too much).

Compress the kick a bit and remove some attack, add a low pass filter or EQ on that one too to reduce the click / attack transients and boost a little around the 200-300hZ while you remove some from 150-170hZ.

Experiment what frequencies works best for the kick in the current track or to the current kick. Notice you can get a nice effect not using the reverbs in mono for this but it gets more tricky with the low end phase problems but you can get around it, creates much nice space.

You can also add a distortion effect to the kick and use it in an additive way. Best is to not make the distortion too obvious, just create some grit to it.
And my golly it f**king works

haha!

Coincidentally - I’m doing it right now

Can’t get more minimal than this

[ applied minimalism ] by microfunk-crew

One 808 kick sample created the whole track. It’s Bop, Despot, Oak and others. It’s D&B, sorry, but so minimal it’ll make your ears bleed. And it’s a free d/l

Oooh
What do you reckon Slender - Is that a Ban?

Cool track Jon
I’ve listened to Bop’s stuff a few times. Its good music.

Interesting read

As part of my research for minimal grooves I’ve loaded up those M-nus Ableton tunes they gave away. It’s amazing how ludicrously simple most of them are. Very few channels, sounds or effects. Of course they all sit together very very well and groove like nobody’s business. Just goes to show that you don’t need to be over elaborate if you’ve got a very strong idea.

I think thats the main battle with the genre using less to make it sound like more

Ostgut Ton

Berghain, Panorama Bar, Berlin

Ostgut Ton Radio Show - http://redbullmusicacademyradio.com/shows/3511/

One of a kind! To talk about techno or house these days is nearly impossible without mentioning Ostgut Ton. The record label of Berlin's Berghain (and Panorama Bar) caused a similar stir as its larger-than-life eponym, the club's former home Ostgut. Set up as a hoard to host mix compilations from the club's residents, it soon took a life of its own. Next to the mixes from Marcel Dettmann and Ben Klock for Berghain and Cassy's or Tama Sumo's Panorama Bar concepts, Ostgut went on to release artist albums by Shed, Prosumer & Murat Tepeli, aforementioned Dettmann and Klock as well as a string of 12-inches by the club's residents and affiliated artists. Dry and straight techno stands next to deep and essential house, reactions to UK's ever-evolving bass music universe go hand in hand with concepts like the label 's anniversary compilation “FĂŒnf” (field recordings from the club turned music). All driven and fed by vitality and an interplay that has been rarely seen between a record label and its attached club. Label manager Nick Höppner talks you through Ostgut Ton's past, present and future.

Theres a version of it here: http://www.liquidsonics.com/software_reverberate_le.htm

Think they’ve just tagged a bit of CM on it, thats all. Havent checked it out, but think you can load IR’s into it. Theres lots of free ones all over the 'net. You can also load any sort of .wav into them usually & get weird fx (never done that either
but give it a try!).

You can get some pretty mental sounding sh!t from space designer in logic, so hopefully this yoke might be cool for anyone with a PC. Not sure if there are any/many free ones out there.

Just run a one shot through one of these things & throw a load of fx after it & it sounds unreal. Love stripping everything back to the original sample every now & then, just to go WTF happened there!?!

Dont be afraid to try 100% wet when you’re going for it
