Minimal / Techno / Tech House Production Thread

Point?

This thread has had about 15,000 views in less than a year… with about 50 odd pages.

The Tech thread in the other section has how many hundred pages? Its had about 16,000 views.

Tech Production is obviously a very popular search. I think there should be more Tech content

Stats show that its something people are interested in.

We Rule

Lots of tracks from Downwards (Surgeon / British Murder Boys)… Speedy J, & some early Liebling, James Ruskin - Into Submission, Regis - Penetration (not mine… but in my box! :D), from vinyl, that I managed to record. Hate recording like that.

Ableton Live Tutorial - How To Create A Minimal 808 Bassline Using An 808 Kick

[hr]

seen it

good idea though

and I’m still effing struggling turning 8/16 bar loops into full blown songs. Started experimenting with “DJ’ing” the song - just jamming along for a time and seeing what happens. I’m hopeful.

Next tut - How to make Skag with an 808.

Rob one & sell it.

I’ve been messing about with this for a good while now.

Get a groove… loop it out over the entire song.

have your kick / bass & hats maybe… on buttons.

The rest… map the FX from your synths / “hooky” bits - onto your sliders etc…

Tweak them over the tune.

I’m my own worst critic… but I (currently) like doing that

Fkn brilliant album Guys. A must hear.

Lucy - Wordplay for working bees.

Listened to it today. Brilliant production. Fantastic sounds. Constantly changing & evolving, often with just the same elements.

Its pounding dub tech in places, with ambient & a bit of autechre. Its nuts. You wont regret getting it. Its deadly.

Guys - Another great album

Mike Dehnert - Framework

Indeed

Its so fkn good.

Just getting back into music production (and reading forums) and came across this excellent thread (moreso because I’m interested in Techno/Tech House production).

Some of you may have heard the name Tarekith, he is a producer that has some awesome tutorials on his website and one of them is on arranging (or, how to go from an 8-bar loop to a full song).

Really helps you break out of the 8-bar loop mentality (although I do think an 8-bar loop is the best way to get started initially).
