Checked out some monitors and now don’t know what to get.
KRK 5 seemed gutless
KRK 8 were Blown away by The BX8 Deluxe
KRK 6 were over prices although nice but still didn’t have that much low end
Mackie 8 sound super flabby in the low end
Samson Rubicon 5 sounded the better of the smaller monitors
Focal Twin (pipe dream)
i checked out some others as well but can’t remember their names lol
any suggestions ???
ftw
hehehe

ftw

thanks but no thanks
Dude, you know you will always find a hole in any monitor you buy. The KRK 6’s sound great and are highly rated. You can always get a sub if you want more lower end, but I wouldn’t worry. I have the 5’s. I love them. And if I really need to monitor below 60hz, then I just throw on my headphones.
Do they have to be new? What about some old ns10s? You can still find some nice pairs on eBay

true, to be fair the 5’s would be more suited to the size of my room and i will always work on lows in my head phones
Funny you should mention monitors, i have just bought a new pair- today!
I was originally after the KRK’s myself but, i just dont have the budget for them at the moment, so instead of waiting i went after some others and came across these…
BEHRINGER B1030A
I am yet to hear them but by the specs and the review, they should be brilliant!
The KRK’s are something which i will purchase in the future but as far as im concerned, im happy with my purchase. I will let you know when they arrive what the sound quality is like

NS10 are designed to sound bad lol the idea with these if you get something sounding good on them it will sound great on anything and i always hated these when working with them

The Behringers sounded great in the shop for their price but their products scare me with the amount they get returned on faults

lol well, its funny you should say that! I have a BEHRINGER DDM4000 Mixer and a few other little BEHRINGER products and i have never had anything go wrong with them… could just be a certain few that have problems but i can safely say i haven’t.
Was it those BEHRINGER Monitors that you listened to in particular?

i may have to give them another listen. the M-audio BX8 Deluxe imho stood out with in my price range but after owning a set of the older ones and knowing how much they cost to put right when they go wrong i don’t think im gonna go down that road again.
I have Yamaha HS50M’s.
Love them. The Low wouldnt shatter bones nor make you worried & I’d say they’re pretty true, in that they dont exaggerate. I heard KRK’s before & though they were very boomy. Edit: Heard that the Yamaha HS80M’s were pretty boomy too…
But sure your know y’self Man - Its all about personal taste at the end of the day & you’ll listen on different stereos etc… just to understand them anyway.
But, just if we’re throwing names around… there ya go!
What Headphones do you have btw Jon? Do you find it difficult making something & then listening on Monitors the next day to find that theres no oomph?
or: is it a case of usually - just checking on them after you know that the meat is there and then have to make a few tweaks.
Thats one thing I dont like about HP’s - You can be headbanging up to the wee small hours when everyones in bed & then when you scrape yourself outta bed in the morning, it can sound like someone has let the air out of the tyres. Just wondering what your experience of it is?
does anyone use the Samson Resolv A6 they seem to have a great sound with big volume and under £200 (i think)
I always find myself doing the majority of music related things in my headphones… its mad! I sometimes just mix using only my headphones, simply because of the pure power in them.
I have the KAM KHP1500 PRO… Essential piece of kit and at an affordable price too, fantastic! Which do you have icn?

I use The sony MDR-700 headphones and i have since they first came out i know my head phones and i know that what i make on them sounds cool in the club, i basically want a set of monitors that when i switch from my headphones to the monitors its not a huge drastic change. the only reason i want monitors is for when i am working with some one else, its easier than both wearing headphones and shouting at each other lol

Well…
At the moment - I’ve got a crappy set of Sennheiser HD201’s - Which are cheap as chips - so what do I expect really.
Just picked up some HD25 II’s for a good price - which have consistently got thumbs up on 4 different forums, coincidently - & all Threads running @ the same time. I know 'cos they’re a DJ staple, they’re probably going to be a bit exaggerated on the bottom end… but I hope that it will negate my current problem of not having any when I’m using them.
I know I DJ’d (Badly… My fault, not the Cans) on them a few years ago, probably the originals. Cant really remember what they were like, but they sounded better than the cheapo Sony’s I had on my decks @ the time, which were around the same price as my HD201’s. So I’m not buying totally blind or deaf - LOL
Should have them by end of the week. Kind of a necessity now with People insisting on going to sleep 'round here @ a reasonable hour. Wnakers.
What do you make of the Genelec 8040’s and the Rubicon R5A’s?

The HD25’s are awesome for DJing, just not very good for studio referencing because they don’t have a good mid/high response, not like the Sony MDR V700s anyways. It’s weird because they’re about £30 more expensive than the Sonys…

they are SUPER expensive

Alot cheaper then the Gelelecs
