New video arrangements

i think its a really good idea the way sonic has made these new tutorials were by they are in different DAWS but the same tut!!

i.e. prog house in 3 DAWS. along with tech tips 4.

if its not too much faffin around then keep it up i say.

i think that way it keeps every1 happy, doesnt it. its a good move from a business perspective as well??

yep agree it keeps everyone happy and drums more business for SA

Actually I'm not overly impressed at the moment. I have always been a big fan of SA - but I haven't renewed my subscription yet as there hasn't been enough good tutorials added recently.

I paid 59.99 quid for my subscription last year, now they are asking 99 quid. And since the Dubstep tutorial on 14th May there has been the prog house tutorial in 3 diff DAWs, and a few tech tips. From memory we used to get 2 totally diff styles of songs and 2 or more tech tips a month.

I appreciate SA are growing and developing. I have no problem paying the 99. quid but SA need to make the tutorials in different musical styles. We can all translate the techniques into our given DAWs. Learning new techniques is the main reason I am here and why I think SA has been so good.

Just my 2 cents.

since dubstep on may the 14th we have had

thats far more than just a how to make progressive house and a few tech tips id say!!:w00t:

we are experimenting with the cross platform stuff… hopefully it brings in enough revenue to hire another producer. the end goal is to create a How to make in 3-4 daws every month plus an “understanding” or in depth thing thats universal… like the compressors and the upcoming reverbs, then do tech tips in between weeks.

we have diverted extra resource from other areas to try and make this happen.

cross platforming is taking a little longer than expected to film so will monitor and try to keep the balance right.

as always feedback is 100% welcome (and essential) and we are always busting our balls to make as much cool stuff as poss.

Let us know what you think… or want etc.!!

To each his own but I think SA is a great value for the money. They have the best genre specific tutorials out there by far. They don’t always make the same tutorials in different DAWS but the fact that they did this time I think was good to show that the same sound and techniques can be achieved in different DAWS. It’s one thing to say it can be done in any DAW and it’s a whole other thing to show that it can.

That is the cool thing about these recent Progressive House Tuts…they were very detailed and I think had many mini tuts within them (if that makes any sense). I got a ton of info out of them and not just the one from my chosen DAW.

Another thing that I like about what SA does much better than any others out there, is that they really try to listen to what their client base wants. Obviously they can’t make everyone happy that would just be impossible (I’ve had an issue or 2 with a video but still looking at the total content they offer it’s a great deal). Again everyone is entitled to their opinion but I have to say I’m glad I subscribed and plan to renew once mine is up.

Good stuff SA! Keep up the good work!

i have no opinion, i watched about 5 videos the week i signed up nearly a year ago and ive not seen another video since.  my net connection is sh!t.

Bryan - My apologies - "a few " tech tips was wrong - there is plenty of good content. I should have just focused on the full song tutorials.

Phil I appreciate your comments and look forward to SA’s big future while trying to cater for everybody’s needs.

like i said,

its a brilliant idea, excellent business move. its gonna help a wider variety of ppl by using more DAWs, in turn, more punters.

i pay the standard 7.99 a month for an incredible amount of access to priceless video tuts i cant even keep up with, lol.

excellent work!!!

my only complaint is that there’s actually been to much new content for me to keep up with by the time i finish work etc there’s not enough time in the day for me to possibly watch everything or even spend anytime on ableton

thats a good thing!!

cant possibly be bad

I think this is a bad thing. We’re paying for the same lesson 3 times, just packaged as something new.

I’d rather have 3 different tuts in any DAW, then the same one 3 times. The techniques are all the same, its easy enough to transfer them to the DAW you use.

Seems to me that SA want us to pay more for less. My 2 cents.

A bit more bluntly put - but that is all I was trying to get across.

Don’t get me wrong I am a big fan of SA. I wish they were around years ago.

I agree completely.

its easier for you guys to say that.

yous are much more advanced than the likes of me and a lot of potential new (beginner ) customers who would like the idea of chosen DAWs.

and like brian said, there doing loadsa tutorials constantly. for example the list he put up about about how many tuts have been done since dubstep. absolutely loads. so cant say they want more money for less!!!

yeah, easy enough to transfer when you been doing it for years.

i really cant see negatives

Doesn’t matter what kind of spin you try putting on it. SA have only done one HTSL in two months and tried to make it look like 3. And now they’re asking for nearly double the money. So yeah I stand by that, they want more money for less product.

Me too

If you don’t know your DAW then you need to be spending your time studying the Beginners tutorial before worrying yourself with the intermediate lessons (HTSL). You have to walk before you can run.

Anyone that knows their DAW can easily transfer what’s being shown on the tutorial to their own chosen DAW, regardless of what DAW the tutor is working in and regardless of however long you have been producing.

We don’t see future music telling the big name producers to show us their techniques repeated in different DAWs, why should here be any different.

yes!

i know this!

i think i could transfer info from DAW to DAW, havnt done it yet, but i reckon i could.

but a lot of people out there like the comfort of having the options.

these people are usually beginners.

the extra clientele that sonic would like to attract from a business perspective

ive been here for 5 month now and im still very happy with the work they do and find it hard to keep up with the amount of tuts they are making

still dont see the problem with the various DAWs issue???

I agree that most of the videos on here can be applied to any DAW really. More in-depth videos on things like music theory and the more technical aspects of music production would be good. This website is still very good value for money given all you get, but it’d be nice to do some more advanced videos. An example might include explaining in-depth the various reverb settings and the theory behind them; e.g: what to use for drums, vocals; etc. The understanding compressors videos are the kind of thing I’m on about. I want to know the theory behind what I’m doing so I can apply it properly and do my own thing rather than just copying the HTSL videos and sounding like everyone else.
