Ok so you got a release

Who’s it with?

how much money have you made?

How many gigs have you got off of the back of those releases?

Was it worth the hard work or do you not give a s*** cos you love the music

You can read it it my Autobiography next year, hopefully I’ll be able to sell the rites to a Hollywood Studio only if rowan atkinson plays my part

I would think Roman Polanski would probably direct it.

seriously boys i wanna know…

are you just mugging your self off or not? :stuck_out_tongue:

I dont expect anything from my releases nor have I got and prob never will. but its worth a shot!

Ive had three releases, big name support, Fm radio play in Holland and internationally and even an international release. One of my releases was with one of the biggest labels in Holland. How much money have I made? 0. How many gigs have I got off the back of my releases? 0. Do people know who I am? I doubt it. Am I doing something wrong? I really dont know anymore :frowning:

so you do it just for the love of it… you have a day job so its not a problem right?

sounds like youre doing everything right… just there is an over saturated market

Yeah but it gets annoying when you see guys who dont even know what a vst is getting big gigs just cos they ‘know’ people…

yes mate…playing trance!

you walked into that one jan sorry!

Persevere. If you really want it it will happen. Just keep doing what you love. Don’t do something because you expect a certain result. Do it because you enjoy doing it.

I make music now - sometimes completely originally sometimes by clever mixing of samples. I couldn’t do that a year ago. That’s enough of a reward.

Oh, one EP released. No income from it. Don’t care. I have enriched some people’s lives momentarily when they listened to it. That’s important.

I have an actual fan who’s bought four tracks directly from me and keeps asking when the album is coming out. That’s success - in that I have materially altered one person’s life.

Unfortunately that how things roll bro . I been in the Dj world for many years. and discovered that u can be a great Dj and Producer but that doesnt matter if . you dont put yourself out there.

there this book called . ‘’ Be your Own Booking Agent ". wich helped me how to interact and get to work around circles of promoters Djs and producers.

I still dont have many Gigs as i used to because , i dont have that much time to go out anymore. ( my day job took all my free time).

but if you want to get gigs , u need to research go out , study , support other artist. and work alot on networking in your social sites.

nowadays is harder than before to get noticed. but if you work hard enough ,and your music is good. you will beat Djs that cant produce **** .:

People don’t like paying for music, apparently

only about 20% (in uk) of music downloads

are legal. And that’s not including streaming services,

such as youTube…and over 60% of people listen to the music

on computers…so you see where I’m going with it!

But I strongly believe that you can and will make at least

a descent living from it, provide that you have enough ‘love’

and perseverance to make it happen.

I think one of the keys is to try and diversify income sources,

and stop waiting for ‘being picked’ by someone.

that tension 2.0 is well good mate

i kinda forget to play the tracks people have in their signature cos theyre always there!

I have almost the exact same experience. But I knew from the start that I wouldn’t make either money nor fame from it. I do it for fun

I do it for the love of it yes, I do want to make a career out of it one day but right now I’m not good enough to expect anything from it.

I have a self employed job where I do contract work from home which pays ok. But recently I’ve been doing less and less work and focusing more and more on my music as I feel improvements all the time.

So I’m going for it - just right now I expect nothing from it, maybe when I get better I will. But at some point it will come to a choice where I’ll need to either stop focusing on it so much and get back to work full time or start making so cash from it.

I’ve been thinking a lot about trying some other types of music as well, with the view of sending stuff into music libraries and such like and I’m think a lot about how to make a career from it by not just focusing on releases and gig. Doing a lot of research on this at the mo.
