also a quick guide in sync-ing up acapellas in live
If you know the original tempo of the acapella:
In arrangement make a click- or drumtrack with the correct tempo
make a second track, put in the acapella, unwarped, move it it forward and/or backward until it sits fine in the rhythm.
Now select the acapella and the empty gap before it begins. Consolidate. Press the warp button. voila, the consolidated clip should be a perfectly warped acapella.
hi there like the videos and learned already some things but still have a way to go:D!thats why i would like to see some videos on effective sound layering for all types off sounds(from bass to percussion ) and how to create those more faster rhythmic passages and off course how to create good chord progression. i know its a lot and off course piece by piece would be perfect :P. here i give some reference to songs as what i mean : Left_Behind_Andre_Bastos_Remix by D-nox&Beckers All_Of_A_Sudden_Daniel_Portman_Remix , Shnorkel_Dousk_Remix ,Pornoise_Cardo_Remix. i hope you know understand what iām asking for so some tutorials on progressive house and techno would be great. thanks for your great work and hope for a positive reply
A tutorial on how to get the sub frequencies to work with each other would be fantastic.(ie.sub bass with subkicks).
Ive noticed in the tutorials that there is very little explination towards this and it often can be a difficult thing to get right especially if the two occupy the identical frequencies.
For any form of dance music it is crucial to have a clear, well defined bottom end hence a tutorial would be a good idea,i think.thanx:)
sidechain compression is a good way to get 2 seperate subby parts to work togetherā¦ its mentioned i quite a few tutorials.
Can i ask phil, do you only use sidechain compression and filtering to make yourĀ sub elements work together or are there other methods you have used?thanx in advance:)
more recently i have been using a highpass filter to roll the bass on both my kick and my bass off at around 60hz then add waves Rbass (psp mix bass or sonic maximizer will both work) on both at around 60-70hz
this seems to help both basses to sound more even and together and give a unified bottom end.
dont over do the rbass tho or everything will sound muddy
getting the right sounds in the first place is 80% of the battle!
Phil, i know i mentioned it before but could we have something on A.T.F.C?
Heās very āman of the momentā and has a very unique style, heās also one of my fav producers. I keep hoping each month that Future Music / Computer Music will finally come out with a DVD with him featured but still nothing, considering writing in to them.
Heās also part of Toolroom Knghts, and i noticed you said you were doing something with Mark Knight soon, their sounds are very diff though but it would be really cool if you had a āToolroom Knightsā section, then you could also maybe cover D Ramirez, Dave Spoon, Funkagenda.
Also Techno bite-sized are missing big time on this site, i was going to mention breaks is needed as well but have read that Graham is already in the process of which is fantastic.
Anyways keep up the awesome work Phil, your tutorials are always top notch.
