SA needs

Bass production courses . My subscription is about to end next month and truly I can’t see myself coming back .

Problems still can not be resolved “base” understanding the power of bass and how to master the core elements . I respect what SA is doing but I already understand music theory and creating tracks .

If you guys know of any videos going into extreme deep detail about bass production please hit me up thanks .

Note: I know about Kick needs to be Eq to fit in with the bass and cutting out 40 will clean up the track . Works but not the results I am looking for

*deleted - no plugging here

Slight breach of forum rules I feel

The countdown to a straightener for Magus has begun…

What type of bass sounds are you going for? what style?

Big fat Bass

there are so many different ways to process bass, with so many different plugins. on top of that there is a ton of different types of bass and different techniques for creating great bass lines.

the only real way to understand all of it… is to practice. big suprise!

Also if your making something like house, you cant really draw in a bassline. Groove is something you feel and you gotta just hit the midi keyboard and try write a bassline over your drum loop. Once you have got your bassline down you can start looking at the sound of your bass and you have to think where you want your bass to sit on the frequency spectrum. Alot of people will layet bass sounds to make one big monster.

They will have a sub and like a mid and low mid etc sidechain compression can be used as instant groove and ducking it from your kick.

Yeah when I make any type of loop I use my hands on the keys ! I find this truly makes the track real . I just want that big wide bass that sounds like its eating you up - !

Trance like bass … I think most trance bass is weak and the kick sub sticks out right ? See I just need to understand subs . When I hear trance bass it sounds extremely wide yet tight in the lows!

Heres some advice When creating a bass with the intentions of a tight low end with a bit of wideness…1st create your sublayer im sure you know how to create a sub cut the high frequencies off then create a mid layer beefy crunchy sound or whatever you want then Duplicate it and Pan them one left one right and then create another bass tone (optional) for crunch and duplicate again and pan…Put a utility in your Sub bass and make it mono so it stays center and your mids will be wide in the stereo spectrum make sure to cut the lows off those wide sounds since you really dont want sub muddying up your stereo width…then group them and compress them so they gel.

Heres an example

The first layer being the Sub-Bass

The Second being the true Midrange

The third being The Mid range (Scoop Out Mud)

and the final being it all together

hey thanks for the help ! yeah never thought of putting the Sub bass Mono then layering the mid crunch stereo

Also that link you sent me is not working :frowning:

Ok so what Key did you use and how low should your bass sub go before you go to low on the keys ?

When you cut the Sub was that around 50 ? then the mid bass 100 to 200 ? High bass around 300 to 2k

You want your very low end to be mono but you can widen the mid ranges with some delay/echo to give it some width. Dont overdo it tho, with bass less is more when it comes to processing.

I was doing some research and I found out that your bass should follow your hi-hats . I could tell this was in pro music . If I can get past this problem in my music ‘Bass and hi-hats’ I would be on my way to creating a nice album .

a lot of trance music sidechain to the hi-hats instead of the kick. sean tyas does it a lot.

Hm . I will try that today
