Sugar Bytes WoW Filter
So another tip--
To fatten up any of these electro house basslines or kick drums, NY Compression allllll the way. I set the dry wet to ~30/70, but it’s personal preference really, depending on the sound.
Though not as good as Skrilly or the Wolf, this is a pretty solid track…
Another good song by Feed Me. Good stuff. Also, if you go to their SoundCloud you can download a song off their new CD Jodie (.WAV) for free. I dig it.
Lateley for Electro, ive been loving Gloumout… guy makes sick electro tracks… you can find him on soundcloud…
This track is Ear Porn

Hmm, I’m sort of confused here. How do you do NY compression exactly? I thought it was when you have two tracks of the same part, one heavily compressed playing under the one that’s not so compressed. How do you set dry/wet between the two? Or do you just mean the volume of each?
Like that new track by the way
There are a couple ways to do it. I have a copy of Fabfilter, which has a setting called “NY Compression”, so I just use that. But essentially, it’s similar to the dry wet knob on an effect. I would suggest duplicating a track, and compressing the first copy heavily, with a ration of about 4:1 (or so). Then turn the volume of the duplicate down slightly, so it’s playing right under the original. For something like a kick drum, what this does is put back the subbiness that was lost in compression, but retains the punch. You can also sort of achieve this messing about with the attack/release settings on the compressor.

Ask and you shall receive!
I actually didn’t even know about the dubstep first time I heard it but as soon as I heard the little wobble bass pan from left to right at the five second mark I knew there was gonna be trouble! At 2:10 it all comes crashing down. :hehe:
Love how the top ranked comment is “LEAVE DUBSTEP ALONE!!!”
Im all for this tutorial .Just quick question here It seems like many stuff are getting trigered through out the song am I correct to say that its all samples being triggered or does he have ton of synth in his project each with its own sound that he uses for 2 second
And now one to apologize for my transgressions. Been hooked on this one.
C’mon guys, don’t let this forum die!
What are people’s techniques for having a kick sit well in a mix?
