I’m aware that some people are going to say I’m asking for to much, but I’m sure there are people who are on the same page with me.
We need more tips like isolating a kick or the sweep tip. It would be easy to do a tip a day. There are so many tips about each instrument and tips about music that can be given. Plus, each member here how to fork out one hundred dollars. I understand this is not a lot of money to a business but to an individual it is alot of money.
Also, after your done watching all the videos this sight becomes pointless. I would love to wake up to a new tip each day instead of maybe two or three a week. There are seven days in a week and if i’m only learning three of those days, I’m not doing so good.
SO, please set the members up with a new tip each day.
I wish i had as much time as you bro!
Loving the tech tips
i think one tip per day is possibly a big ask and would probably tip over to the production quality of the full tutorials. how ever i think one a week is about right and shouldn’t hurt the production team to much.
i still think it would be great to have a section for members to upload tip and tricks.
(i still think it would be great to have a section for members to upload tip and tricks.)
+1
I think they can keep the full production videos the same quality and give us one tip a day. There are millions of tips when it comes to making music. These are the guys that know them. There has to be people on this site that would love more tips. I site you pay 100 dollars a year to be apart of should be and active site. A hundred dollars is a big deal to me.
i guess you are right, but i for one fell that i couldn’t get this info for the same price anywhere else in the world
Yes it always nice to have more tutorials but the information & the Ableton live sets we are getting is great.
Keep up the good works guys
i think a tech tips thread would be a good un’. we could share amongst ourselves… whatever happened to the little remix thread that was getting talked up?
Raymond
i know maybe SA could make a board member to a mod and then we could organize it our selves to start with
Such a good Idea for a members tips and tricks section!! Maybe with a way to review this and comment on them…?
Personally, I would rather the tips come from sonic academy. I doubt that each member has software that will allow them to record detail videos. Both would be awesome, but I still like the idea of these sonic guys giving more videos. To me, making a video a day for you business is not to hard or to bad. I would love to get paid to make a video a day.
we need cke and btches …

Have you looked around and seen how much school for music production costs lately? If you don’t like the cost, don’t subscribe!

Obviously, when you were in school and you learned something, you had no flippin clue on how to apply the things you learned. By watching the videos they offer, you just aren’t going to “get it” after you’re done watching. That’s like saying I just watched the NBA Finals, so now I’m gonna be a professional basketball player all of a sudden? fish NO!!!
Just like any sports professional, it took these guys alot of time to hone in their skills. You should do what they did… PRACTICE!!!. Watch the videos, and practice what they showed you. Then do it again, but do it with your own twist. Then do it again, but change everything around. Experiment. It’s not gonna come to you overnight I’m afraid to say.
I talked to my buddy and he went and got a degree in music production. He told me that by me subscribing to this site (I showed him the subscriber videos), He would say that the content is worth anywhere from $800-$1500. To me, $90 isn’t too bad of an investment in myself to learn the tricks of the trade and how things are produced.
Also, look at it this way. These guys run a school too. This is done on the side I would imagine. Lets say they have 200 subscribers. Thats $18,000 for the whole year. Before you say that that’s alot of money, split it with 6+ people and you get less than $3000 each. Sorry buddy, but thats not enough money to live on.
As the site grows, they will add more staff, do more tutorials, and the site will grow. The loyal customers like myself will grow along with them. I love the site. I love the people that run the site (and I think they do a great job), and the members are cool as fish.
In closing, I would like to say relax. Make suggestions, but don’t complain that its too much money. It’s not. The info on this site is priceless. I’m proud to be a member too.
I still think a thread called “tech tips” for us as well as the SA staff to post tips would be sweet. As I’ve even noticed that the guys at SA all do stuff differently by watching the array of tutorials. Which should show the masses, that there’s only guidelines to the production, no set in stone path, but I digress. With that being said, the tech tips would come in handy, because even though you can do one thing several different ways, like compression, there is a theory behind which school of thought to use when applying the layer depending on what your trying to actually achieve…
Plenty of us are at a level that we could bestow some useful info upon thee. Also, not everything needs to be a video. Like I said before, even useful stuff like scale charts, and frequency Hz ranges and whatnot would be uber helpful in many facets like eqing, mixing, and just down right better tonality. None the less, a thread requires no effort and will at least somewhat solve the tech tips delimma. Just my two cents!

abusing other members will not be tolerated (edited sonic staff) I still feel one little tip a day is not a big deal. If you think that it takes to much time to give one tip a day, your not very smart.
For some people, I can understand how they think adding thirty minutes to their day is going to be to much, but for others or only me, this is not a big deal. To add one tip a day would make this site a hell of alot more interesting. If you disagree, then surely you do not understand that knowledge is power. The more knowledge I can have about music, the better.
So please add a tip a day. You’ll help me out and I’m sure others would feel like subscribing more. When you look at the news and see this site is only being updated every once in a while, it makes you a little sad. Because, I know these guys have a lot of knowledge that can be given.
^^^^^^ thats my point some of the DAW software has loads of ways to do the same thing and by having a section for people to post in shows you all these different ways.
for instance when i first started using logic i was watching a few friends and how they all worked different and until i started asking questions i had no idea of the advantages of working in different ways.
even simple things like making a kick pattern, the kick sample can be dragged into the main arrange window and copied straight to the grid or imported into a impulse or maybe even simpler maybe you wanna run it live in guru and only commit it to audio at the end of the project.
I’m down with the member section thing as well. Both would be interesting.
read below, i have sent off to the lot!
Tech Tips Thread

Hey Lot,
We have been in much discussion on the Forums about the tech tips and where hoping that you could fire up a new thread called “Tech Tips”. We could use it to post the tech tips ideas to you as well as post our own tips amongst each other. Constantly learning from each other would be a valuable tool. I would probably recommend this to be a members only thread as it would have much useful information only the SA members should be able to access. It’s your call though as it’s your site of course. None the less, that’s what we ask with a pretty please!

[quote]samuelalbritton (6/30/2009)[hr]I’m going to ignore your idiotic comment. I have problems arguing with morons. I still feel one little tip a day is not a big deal. If you think that it takes to much time to give one tip a day, your not very smart.

Suck on my lolly pop bro. You’re paying $90 and have gotten a wealth of knowledge already. If you’re smart, you would be a moron like me and go read a book to fill in the gaps. Try reading “The Dance Music Manual” by Rick Snoman. There are plenty of tech tips in there to last you a year, including sound design and how to make specific sounds.
If you think it takes 30 minutes to create a tip, than I’m sure you’re the idiot. I’m not arguing with you, but since you are new to the site I want to share with you the conversations we had many times before. Read some of the past threads and you will see.
There is a section on the site that asks “What would you like to see?”. I suppose you should put that there instead of complaining. If you think it’s easy to put a tech tip together, than maybe you should start up your own website and find out how easy it is to not only to come up with ideas for the site, but arrange the ideas, and then film them. Cmon man. It doesn’t take 30 minutes to do a tech tip. Think about it.
Can someone help me out here?
may I have a fresh drink and a new pair of decks with my tuts?
… for only 7 pounds a month…
