What should the next tutorial be

Multiple choice

I think I made it quite clear in your other thread what my vote was
slender (26/07/2010)
I think I made it quite clear in your other thread what my vote was :D
i think that there are many guys that want something other than house, they spend their time calling out about it but only very few people actually say what they want and even less vote.

we always get guys calling out for hard dance and then when it comes down to it we end up with 3 votes for Hard dance and 100 for house. the reason house has been covered so many times is that its been voted for again and again.

As for me I am not really that bothered what genre is covered in depth so long it ain’t house, not because its not my sorta thing but its had a quite a long run here. But I am sure the wise folk at SA realise that house will always be the most popular andthe one to bring in new subscribers

Being a technohead I personally don’t see the point having another techno tut as I beleive my genre is all about trying not to sound like other producers in the genre - lol

Ah see what you mean by not bothering too vote though “sighs”

totally! techno is all about the unexpected being different and the drums imo.

House has only been my thing for around a year or so, so seeing house tutorials is great for me although to be fair i’m not all that concerned about what genre is covered next.

i would love to see more of the processor tutorials, we’ve covered compression, reverb so delay, eq/filters, distortion, Flange/chorus would be the next logical step.

would love to see tutorials showing stuff like building your own midi devices or even building upgrades for them, adding ports. circuit bending or just simply turning some broken devices into something useful for the studio.

you’ll notice that 15+ views and only the two of us have voted. i know this is something that i have made up and not an official SA poll but its the same story when we have the SA polls only the same people voting all the time and the only time we hear from other members is to complain about the tutorial thats being covered.

if you’ve view the thread you may as well vote, it takes 2 seconds

Processing Tutorials are good and far more educational than some off the tuts here IMO. I certainly got to the stage that I pracitically ignore the HTSL section as requests are just so similar and in those famous words ‘theres a tut for that’.

Maybe some practical advice on the music buisness would be good but rather hard as there are no set rules. Nice idea about building your own midi devices though I failed electronics at school and I don’t think my hands have got staedy in my old age

I voted, and I’ve also said before in other threads that I’d like more non House tuts, I include Trance in the same bracket.

I understand however that trance and house based genres are the more popular ones, so I’m not surprised. I do acutually like it myself, but equally I like lots of the more off beat and underground genres.

Likewise, I voted for processing too as I think these are the key areas to master IMO.

1 house tut, and a load of effects/technique tuts = better than 10 flavours of house. As with the processing and effecting skills you should be able to deconstruct and emulate most things.

if we were gonna cover another genre i would love to see an indepth tutorial on Breakbeat even though its not really my thing.

Laid back dnb for me

Personal Choice?

Synthesis… & House (But I actually mean Techno - The Berghain type… Len Faki, Dettmann & Klock, all that bunch that make warped glitchy repetive beats… )

I suggested here before that there could / should be a series of Tech Tips, covering how to make 5 different Stabs, 5 different basses, 5 different risers etc…

I love Tech House / Harder Minimal-ish Techno & frankly the more Tut’s I can get about the current sound the better. The type of Tribal / Techno covered in the Tut’s is a little dated IMO. Scott would have loved them!

Things move on - in all genres.

Maybe more of a mini collection of Vids showing how to achieve the rhythms / processing & fx of a recent big hitter of all genres.

The Genre Tut’s should be revolving - and no-one should apologise for there being another “XXXXXXX” Tut as long as its covering some up to the minute sounds.

id be interested in anything that focused on more complex producers and techniques. either sell or give away sylenth presets for the people that keep asking for the same things over and over again, seriously,by looking at 90 percent of the requests seen here, its safe to assume thats what they really want the lessons for, some presets and a song template.

Well I have hardly made a dent in the available material but I placed a vote for a new genre anyway, variety is the spice of life

the other genre not covered yet should definately mean a sub genre of modern trance!!

not been covered yet!

and an understanding E.Q
